House of the Dead Overkill: Review of gore in Extended Cut

Blood and guts are the main course of this gore infested version of The House of the Dead: Overkill. With new redone High Definition cutscenes and levels, although still identical to the Wii version.

There are two new exclusive levels not included in the original Wii release title, Naked Terror and Creeping Flesh, serving as a back-story in the main game featuring Varla Gunns and a new female character, stripper Candi Stryper. Containing added bonuses, new weapons, monsters and bosses, we wondered what was thought with an informative review of the gore.

House of the Dead Overkill: Extended Cut has more than just gore involved and in an article on Gaming Excellence, it seems like there is plenty of swearing as well as bloody scenes. Reviewed from the PlayStation 3, this version has all that is required from a bloody rail-shooter. Basic storyline, loads of baddies and excess amounts of gore along with cheesy music, chauvinist dialogue all done in a movie style reminiscent of the 70s.

The general overview here was that although it is quite a good game with plenty to get on with, the graphics were as that on the Wii. Character models looked below average along with the animations. Better played with a Move compared to the controller this game fetched a 7.5 rating.

When it comes to a rail-shooter do you think countless gore and swearing is the ideal expectation for a game like this? If you like the look of these styles of movies and games this could be the game for you.
