Skyrim is a fantastic game – there’s no denying that – but there are a few inconsistencies that will make you scratch your head. You will take part in many quests and do many great things, but slip up once and the world of Skyrim will punish you for it. However, in other respects you can do something truly bad and pay a bounty and all is forgotten.
Let’s give you an example; before we got into the game we wanted a little play around – and we all know what that means. Having visited Lucan Valerius, the shopkeeper in Riverwood we thought it would be funny to kill his wife sister. Now it’s easy for you to say this was not the right thing to do, and we totally agree.

However, all we had to do was visit a guard, pay the bounty and then he was fine and would do business with us once again – which doesn’t seem right. How can you kill a man’s wife sister only for him to be ok with you? An example of this is seen when you take the Golden Claw back to Lucan, he says that he wishes his wife sister was here – well she’s on the floor right next to him – and he then hands over 800 gold coins for retrieving his artifact.
Now let’s look at what makes this game a little hard to understand, as they put so much importance on a chicken. Having been on a quest with Delphine and killed a dragon you then meet her back in town. Once we reached town we had an urge to kill a chicken and thought nothing of it. However, we then met up with Delphine, only for her to attack us. We could not understand why, so we loaded the game from a previous save and chose not to kill the poultry this time; it done the trick, as she did not try to kill us.
We know that we could have paid the bounty and then went on another quest with Delphine, but that wasn’t the point. How can you build up a relationship with the women and go through killing a dragon, only for her to fall out with you for killing a chicken?
Surely killing someone’s wife sister is far worse than a chicken’s life? Now we know that the shopkeeper has to stay friendly with you, as he is a main part of Riverwood and a few quests, but the balance in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a little off. Maybe we should have been able to talk to Delphine about the issue?
There is no denying that Skyrim is an awesome game, but there are still one or two discrepancies that need to be addressed.
