iOS gamers rejoice at iPad 3 hints

Another sign that the iPad 3 is on the way comes from some hints in the latest iOS 5.1 beta 3, which shows there are two version of a new Apple tablet on the way; although there is no mention of a date. Hidden in some code are two names, J1AP and J2AP, which is thought to be two iPad 3s.

Now this could be another way for Apple to throw us off the scent, as they did with their Apple iTV, but how do we know what they said was true, as it could be bogus code? For iOS gamers, they will see this as a sure sign of a new iPad. What we find strange about this is the fact that it was almost certain a new version was coming this year anyway; although the thought of two adds fuel to a recent rumor.

It had been suggested the release of an iPad in March could be an iPad 2S. This kind of makes sense, as we had heard that the PowerVR Series6 GPU core could be used in the A6 processor. However, as this is a long way from being produced; maybe the idea of the iPad 2S coming first this year is not such a crazy one after all?

An article here believes that the two code names we mentioned above refer to the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi/3G versions, although they could be wrong because as always, all what is known is just speculation. This is great for those iPad gamers, or wannabes, who are looking for any signs of the iPad 3 coming soon with it’s increased GPU for some of the best mobile graphics around.

Knowing that the iPad 3 is to come with a much-improved screen (well as far as we know) we now learn that Apple has cut the amount of panels used in the iPad 2. Normally when Apple releases a new tablet the older one goes into obscurity; however, this will not be the case this time round. We say this because a this article suggests they will make both models available – much like they do with older iPhone handsets.

If this is the case, then Apple could be targeting two markets, high-end with the iPad 3 and mid-range with the 2nd-generation tablet. This will be good news for Apple, as this would give them a much bigger share of the gaming market. For some this might not sound like a good prospect, but remember, the iPad is still better than most of the tablet devices currently on the market.
