Openness wanted on Half-Life 3 development

As fans anticipate more news on the next Half-Life game, we have some information that could breathe life into those deflated patient souls, as openness is required on the development of Half-Life 3.

In an article on BeefJack, news of fans creating a Steam collective petitioning Valve to be more open when it comes to the development of Half-Life 3 has questioned the amount of communication involved, if any. As speculation surrounds the production and the supposed time spent on this, the end of the unpredicted story just hangs in the balance since Half-Life 2, Episode 2, which has no third expansion pack that was expected.

Openness wanted on Half-Life 3 development

As this group does not want to push the developers into making a quick fix new game, they do expect a bit of feedback especially since this was meant to come about in 2008. The view from this group comes as a polite and thought provoking message, as they are content with any plans that Valve has to not continue the story at the moment but it would be nice to have some information regarding this one way or another. With over 10,000 members in this group that started only three weeks ago, their message seems to be polite and straight to the point.

In other Half-Life 3, related news Gamerant has news on more speculation with a photograph of Gabe Newell teasing Half-Life 3 fans with an image on Reddit showing the head of Valve tooled up with some big knives with what some may call a menacing pose. If you look closely, you can see a Half-Life 3 logo on the screen behind him but Reddit superimposed this. There are many guesses for why this picture has come about, and a few speculative explanations are given.

More news on IGN comes as they predict Half-Life 3 to be unveiled sometime this year. Their forecast is based solely on guesswork and a pattern in the industries trends and it will be a full game expected not an episode. Their reasons behind this assumption comes due to next-generation consoles by Sony and Microsoft, which are rumored to be unveiled in the summer which they feel is what Valve are waiting for. However, their is a flaw to this logic, as Sony has come out and said they have no plans to announce the PS4 during E3. Another reason for this is that there is nothing scheduled for 2013.

All this rumor-mongering should be taken with a pinch of salt as people become numb to it after a while. The idea of fans getting together and putting a valid message across has to be a good way to bring news out from those playing their hands close to their chest. What do you think?
