Appetizer for Alan Wake American Nightmare

Alan Wake American Nightmare is due for release on 15th February as an Xbox Live Arcade game, and we have some preview news to wet your appetite about this story based action horror game that is not seen to be a sequel.

PlanetXbox talks about the return of Alan Wake taking a different path to the original even though the light against the dark aspect is still there. A fun style approach has been taken this time and as Wake looks to be in a Southern part of America in casual wear, he is on a mission to find out what Mr Scratch is up to. The Xbox Live feature gives more of a scoring element to the game although the best part on this title is the survival mode that sets him up with 10 minutes to survive the oppression of countless enemies in the dark.

There is news of a sequel to this, which will be ideal for fans that want more mystery solving aspects. Swapping from light weapons to actual weapons is ideal with Remedy’s intuitive controls as aiming is easy and dodging features a great. Work shown on the original has translated well here, yet more melee weapons would be welcomed. The downloadable side of this game means a restricted area is available but this is made up with brilliant visuals voice acting, music, sound effects and animations.

GameInformer
write about this version being similar in style to the surroundings in Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn with a bit of a sci-fi feel to it. Based in a fictional Arizona like town called Night Springs this is reminiscent of a TV show coincidentally known as Night Springs, “spooky eh”. It starts as Wake gets a message from Mr. Scratch giving Wake tormenting news of his wife that has been captured and is being held hostage.

This is where Alan Wake has to get out there and search for her, with a little help from a few women that know some of Mr Scratch’s secrets. New weapons like a semi-automatic SMG are available this time around along with new enemies like Grenadier who throws you’ve guessed it grenades and a creepy bird man that transforms into a flock of (guess again) birds. As GameInformer eagerly await this downloadable title, the cryptic style that comes with this is truly worth the wait.

Were you a big fan of the original? Surly this downloadable version will be ideal as far as price is concerned. To wet your appetite take a look at the trailer.
