On January 19, 2011 Capcom released a trailer for their upcoming game, Resident Evil 6 and it does not take a genius to work out there will be a multitude of fans taking different things from what they have seen β much like gamers have done with The Last of Us trailer. Just the day after the RE6 unveil there were a few predictions of what the developer is likely to do in terms of gameplay, characters and features.
We have had a few days to digest some of the information from the game, so thought it was time for some more insight. With most trailers you miss things the first or second time, it’s not until you view the content many times that things become much clearer, as it did for one key gamer. An article here is very interested with the character Leon S Kennedy, as he is dual wielding a couple of hand guns. This is not the first time a Resident Evil game has done this, but since it was not a feature in 4 or 5 it is nice to see it back β if we see it in the gameplay.

More often than not some game details get leaked from more reliable sources, but we did not think it would be Microsoft so soon. By visiting their official listing for the game you will get to see some of the online options for Resident Evil 6. If we are to believe the listing then you can expect six-player co-op and up to eight-players for competitive mode. There is a fear this option could spoil the foundation of what made the series great, as Capcom looks to have gone down a generic shooter route instead. If this is true do you think this will spoil or improve the experience?
It’s hard to see Capcom not going in this direction with RE6, as looking over the trailer once again you can see that Chris Redfield is adopting the first person point-of-view. A recent article suggests Capcom has done this to inject new life into an aging series, but are they just creating another clone of dozens of games already out there on the market?
Having said that, many gamers could be seduced by the story of Resident Evil 6, with fans wanting to learn what has happened since previous events. We know events are set ten years after what took place in Raccoon City, and the US President feels now is the right time to inform the public about what really happened. However, things are not going as well as we first thought, as the virus is not just contained to one or two countries but numerous location throughout the world, which you can see in the video below.
The game has all the ingredients to become a hit with the fans, but there are two things that could work against it; the first is going down the FPS route and the timing of the release date, as it will be very close to the next Call of Duty.
