Spectator mode excitement for Battlefield 3

Since the release of Battlefield 3 there have been various rumors regarding a ‘Spectator mode’ but as yet nothing has come of it. At the beginning of the year there was even a video, which showed the mode in action and it was said not to be a glitch – have a look and see what you think.

It has been suggested that this feature is also found in the PC version, but has yet to be activated. However, a future patch could activate the mode, but as yet we have no proof of this. Daniel Matros, the Community Manager over at DICE has been saying a few things to get us excited over the possibility of a ‘Spectator mode’ for Battlefield 3, as reported here.

Spectator mode excitement for Battlefield 3

Matros has said they have an ambition to bring fans this mode in future games; although BF3 fans are hoping ‘Battlerecorder’ will be brought out very soon. Okay, so we still have no idea if and when DICE will make ‘Spectator mode’ available, but it’s hard not to agree it will be a great addition to the game. Fans seem convinced the developer will add support for this mode – are you one of them?

IF BF3 were to get ‘Spectator mode’ then players would be able to delay their respawn, explore maps for secrets and so much more. However, this is on Modern Warfare 3, but we would expect it to work in a similar way on the rival game.

There are some Battlefield 3 fans who feel this mode is not as good as others make out; they believe watching people play would seem like a pointless feature – would you agree with this?

Speaking of Battlefield 3, did you know you are able to play your PS3 version of the game on a PS Vita – well if you don’t mind jailbreaking that is? More on this can be found in our recent article here. This leads into the news hacking has now become a much bigger problem than DICE first thought, as a recent incident has reached a new low. However, the developer recently announced new plans and as such has waged war on cheats – you have been warned.

Watching someone else play and seeing enemy movement and tactics isn’t good for the game I think I would quit playing it.

The entire point of spec mode would be to catch hackers.

I would much rather see voip then spectator mode. Its a hassle for me to set up skype or vent, especially since I don’t play with friends. Can’t see why a Next-gen game would have difficulties adding a voip that has been standard in fps for over a decade.

I would love spectator mode.  Sometimes I have things to do around the house, or homework, etc.  As much as I want to play the game, or any game actually, I would love to just turn on a game and have a match play out in the background like a movie or tv show.  If you could watch from different angles, either FPS, or birds eye view, I found find this very fulfilling.

If you’re familiar w/ the OnLive gaming platform, you are able to spectate any game from just about any other network members that are currently live.
