Favoring Diablo 3 release over convention

For the past few years the BlizzCon event has managed to pull in a great crowd for a number of reasons; first is because of what the event means to the fans and second is the headline acts who appear. In 2010 those who attended were treated to a performance by Tenacious D, while last year it was the Foo Fighters job to please the crowd.

BlizzCon 2012 was all set to take place later this year but we recently learned the event has since been cancelled. According to this article it seems Blizzard has favored the release of Diablo 3 over the convention, along with the Battle.net World Championship as well.

Favoring Diablo 3 release over convention

Maybe fans should give Blizzard the benefit off the doubt, not only do they have to prepare for the event and the game release above but also Mists of Pandaria and Heart of the Swarm are also due this year? However, we are told BlizzCon will return in 2013; this is the first time they have missed a year since 2006.

This jam-packed year should keep gamers occupied long enough not to miss BlizzCon; not only do they have the release of these new games but also the 2012 Battle.net World Championship taking place towards the end of the year in Asia as well.

Another reason to forgive Blizzard is knowing the show runs at a loss, so much better they use their resources for all what they have going on this year. However, it’s not like they can’t afford it.

There are some gamers who suggest Blizzard are so far behind with these upcoming games that they would not have much to show anyway, as well as being more for the media than the fans. We have to point out this is just the opinion of a select few and most fans believe Blizzard is doing the right thing – do you?

As for the release of Diablo 3, there have been a few reports to suggest the game is not moving in the right direction. The release date never seems to come, as the developers are spending far too long making tweaks and removing features they have already teased us with. Do you think Blizzard has taken on too much in 2012?

Only a select few care about goes on at blizzcon. Where as the entire world is eagerly waiting the release of diablo 3. Enough with the teasing and tweaking, release the game, and if needed, patch the rest of the issues.

no, the entire world and his dog

  • Jtdomino23

yeah i’m feeling disrespected as a Diablo fan now c’mon now it’s 2012 technology is greater then if ever been stop the bs!

  • Goob

I for one can wait and you wont find a bigger diablo fan than me.  Make the game epic and don’t let me down.

  • Mayhem

They shouldn’t say they’re planning a Q1 release unless they’re sure it’s happening….ya piss a lot of people off that way

  • Indianamouse

who really cares any more if hellgate resurrection comes out before diablo then ill buy that n not diablo so which ever comes out first

  • EaseUp

You do realise that the word ‘planning’ is exactly that… it’s a plan… the definition doesn’t mean it will 100% happen. The company has NEVER EVER released a game early just to please a minority of impatient people. This is why they don’t give release dates, muppets like you and Jtdomino23 talk about being disrespected. The only people they pissed off are idiots that can’t comprehend things beyond their own selfish attitudes.

How dare Blizzard want to make a great game and not release one with bugs and mechanics that don’t work properly… HOW DARE THEY!

  • Dan

These fools have taken so damn long to come out with this game. I have graduated from college and have grown way too impatient for this bologna. Keep your stupid Diablo 3.

I have upgraded my system for a q1 2012 release, also had
some spear time. Waited for nothing! Any tweaks could have been made in the
first patch. We aren’t talking about a few months. Waiting for some years all
together now and I start losing interest now.

Waiting a further 3 months for some pay as play is almost
painful. How knows what’s really going on. Maybe they never came past the D3
beta and put all their rescores in to WOW, as its generating already enough
money. People run away from WOW now and look somewhere else for fun so Blizz
    needs some new money generator.

I think Blizz priority shouldn’t always have been a strict
focus on one game at a time, well it appears that it is that way, think WOW
    releases.

Not fair on Diablo 3 fans!

  • Liz

you seem to forget they’ve only had 10 YEARS to work out the bugs

  • Nick Keane

Huh? Who said they’ve been developing Diablo 3 for 10 years? Last I checked, it was announced in 2008 and had been worked on since 2007. That’s 5 years at worst, not 10.

  • Jack Dawson

Good lord just release Diablo 3 already.  It’s rediculous how long this game has been in develpment.

  • Luke

I think ppl need to stop bitching. Like all blizzard games it will be released when its ready just chill out and wait for the awesomeness to ensue

  • Shandox

LOL, I see a lot of wankers screaming to just release the game and patch the rest.
I bet those same wankers start screaming at day 1 if the game has hick ups.
Be happy that Blizzard takes it’s job serious instead of doing an EA on this game.

  • Ball88

I bought a gaming laptop in July 2009, thinking that the game would be released soon. How wrong was I to think that :)

Anyways, the rig is still good and I hope to use it to play D3 soon

According to a source of mine who will not be mentioned, March 31st is
the projected release date for Diablo 3. That is, if nothing else comes
    up.
