PS Vita understood from varied angles

Over the past few weeks we have covered news on the PS Vita release in Japan and the upcoming UK/US launch, which has been supported by different interviews and speculation. Today we wanted to give you an understanding of the PS Vita from varied sources, so you can get insight from different perspectives.

For a positive review we looked at MEGAMERS who regarded the PS Vita as totally cool on first impressions. After spending many years playing on consoles and PCs they were not overly concerned about the new upcoming handheld. Trying it out at the E3, GAMES11 seems to be smitten by the Vita and cannot wait for the device to be released. In the review it was noted that it’s visually similar to a PSP yet the left analogue is a nice addition and makes for a more comfortable experience although it does not push in like the PlayStation 3.

PS Vita understood from varied angles

Underneath the analogue stick, the PS button allows users to switch between the game and the home screen. Including a right analogue stick the Vita also has a front and rear facing camera, touch screen and touch panel at the back. These controls make the PS Vita so much better than the PSP adding more variations to the control of a game and different games in general, especially the motion controls that can be used for shaking and tilting elements to certain titles. This is where games were mentioned and the graphics are nearly as good as the PS3, with no glitches or issues the opportunity to use apps that connect with nearby users, along with Party apps and Group Messaging was great for chat and voice communication. Their view you will not be able to stop using the parable gaming system.

Everything from PlayStation Network access and playing videos to accessible games was appreciated the only drawback was the costly memory cards. Their overall rating was a hard to put down 9 out of 10. On the other hand, RandomProInc does not feel that the Vita is as good as the PSP was at the time, and questions whether it will meet the same success, although back then the PSP was a new concept with upgrades like the PSP Go and the PSP E1000, which progressed into what we are looking at now. Their issue is that the PS Vita has over complicated gaming yet maybe this has come down to the Vita being the full package that now contains all previous gaming requirements.

FiniteUniverse view the Vita as nothing to write home about but funnily enough, they still want one the day it comes out. Their opinion is that it’s just another handheld console and after going through all the varied features, they feel it is because of the games they want one. Uncharted and Wipeout 2048 were mentioned but it is plain to see they expect even more from a handheld but not entirely clear what it is.

StickSkills on the other hand list five great reasons to purchase a PS Vita if you are still undecided. At number five, they regard the price as reasonable in comparison to the power behind it. Next up was use of the touchpad and touchscreen, which has so much potential. Achievements and trophies to win also give gamers a reason to play on and earn bonuses. The various titles for all types of gamers will be a main attraction and the dual-analog sticks will give a more extensive gaming experience especially shooting games.

On ITProPortal, they write about the PS Vita launch bundle, which is available for $299 or currency equivalent for pre-order through Amazon. This will contain the Vita 3G/Wi-Fi system, AT&T DataConnect Session Pass, a free PSN game an 8GB memory card and additional bonus content worth in the region of $55 for free. Other bundles are starting to show for the United States including the first edition bundle that will be shipped from 15th February onwards and it will cost $349.99, containing a PS Vita 3G with a 4GB memory card, Little Deviants, a limited edition case and a complete week with early Vita gaming.

CVG talks about UK stores getting hands-on prior to the launch, all 600 GAME, Gamestation specialist retail stores all over the country will have a PS Vita to demonstrate with demos like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, WipEout 2048, ModNation Racers: Road Trip, Reality Fighters, Everybody’s Golf and Little Deviants. This will give people the chance to admire this new handheld close up. In an article we wrote last week, we talked about preparing the PS Vita for UK consideration mentioning prices of games, and whether big supermarkets will get involved in a price war with titles.

Have you decided to get a PS Vita yet? If so what will be your first games?
