The moment a new game from a successful series gets released talk regarding the next begins almost right away, and this is just what has been going on with regards to The Elder Scrolls VI. As you can imagine fans of the franchise have a great number of suggestions, but how many of those will make the cut? There’s no denying Skyrim is impressive, but it’s a long way from perfection.
Discussing what we would like to see in The Elder Scrolls VI is tough for many reasons, and one of them is because technologies will change a great deal in 4 or so years. In that time the next Xbox and PS4 will be out, and there’s no telling how more advanced the PC will be. Having said that, there are still some aspects of the game that need to be changed even without advancements in these upcoming devices.

Below are 6 of the best ideas for the follow up to Skyrim:
Getting around Skyrim is long and tough, as you need to tackle many obstacles along the way, but it’s those rocky hills, mountains etc that get a little tricky. While you can get up them, some areas can be tough because of the characters lack of climbing ability. Now we are not saying the climbing skills should be that of Nathan Drake; just imagine being in a cave and being able to climb a rock face to get to a desired object?
As for weapons there are so many to choose from, but there is room for more. It’s so easy to get carried away with introducing new weapons, but you need to remember they need to fit the era, and spears could be the perfect choice. It does seem funny how Bethesda left these awesome weapons out, as these would serve well to take down a larger animal without getting too close.
In a recent article here they have come up with another suggestion, which could go either way with Elder Scrolls fans. Destructible environment is an obvious choice, but one that could be hard to develop. However, we have to remember we are talking four or five year’s time, so who knows?
Your biggest enemy in Skyrim is the Dragon, but this article believes the developers let us down a little. The reason they say this is because these are some of the most fearsome mythical creatures of them all, but when you watch their attack patterns they do not come across that way. It does not take long to study the attack pattern of a dragon; surely it would be better to do away with the repetitive attacks and make these creatures learn from you as well – which is just what any opponent would do?
Making The Elder Scrolls VI more believable is a must, so this would mean Bethesda need to find more voice actors. A recent article says that it doesn’t take long to grow tired of the same voices and as a result could affect the immersion of the game. They do not need to sign up big actors to do this, just more.
The above article also mentions multiplayer – yes this topic just doesn’t seem to go away. While many fans still believe this to be a good idea others have their apprehensions over this. However, there is no denying the appeal, as you could get up to all sorts of things with friends, such as helping each other with quests or taking out the enemy. If this were the case then it would be more like Co-op rather than multiplayer, which would probably suit fans more.
While there seems to be an emphasis on what new things we would like to see in the follow-up to Skyrim, the location of where things could take place has taken a backseat. There have been a few rumors on the location but nothing solid just yet. One such area would be Hammerfell; now there has been mixed views on this, there was a rumor that Bethesda had trademarked this, but there is a debate here, which suggests why this will not happen.
Another suggestion here is Summerset Islets, as they believe we should now take the fight to the Thalamor, but failing that then maybe Kajiit’s homeland or Valenwood? What should be the location for The Elder Scrolls VI?
There will be some skeptics who would say there will be no more TES games, but this is not what a certain analyst believes. In an article here Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities says that Elder Scrolls is like James Bond in a way, as Bethesda can keep re-inventing new games in the series. However, it’s hard to think the developers are already working on number six, especially when there is so much potential in terms of DLC for Skyrim – we just need to get patch 1.4 out of the way first.
