Two new Killzone titles, not if but when

With news that there could be two more Killzone titles for us to look forward to, our main concerns are not whether or not they will be available but when.

In an article on 8BitFix, they talk about a Killzone 4 and a Killzone for the PS Vita. This news comes as they expect Guerilla Games will be working on a version for the Vita. Develop recently reported that Killzone titles are in the works, although speculation surrounding this rumor of a Vita version and a number four on the PlayStation doesn’t exactly seem like a bolt from the blue and as this claim does the rounds, a new IP has also been suggested.

Two new Killzone titles, not if but when

The franchise has done well since the original Killzone as Sony got on board after the first one and was involved in the successful award-winning sequel, Killzone 2 along with handheld byproduct Killzone: Liberation. After Guerrilla’s release of Killzone 3 last year, there is news that they are currently making a second IP and Studio recruiter Adrian Smith has said that they are going to carry on with the franchise.

Replies to this rumor have come up with some interesting comments on blog sites. The speculation has caused some excitement with Killzone fans although this has not surprised the masses. Many cannot wait to see what the developers have to offer this time round. Expectation is high that Sony will deliver another game to match the hardcore classic of previous years, although some have suggested that in the third game the story went stale and a completely new universe could be in order. Many feel that Killzone 3 was not as good as the second was and only a couple have implied that the storytelling has been weak all through the franchise. By the sounds of it, the developers would benefit from researching what was preferred in Killzone 2 to its sequel.

JustPushStart writes about the original Killzone that was supposed to be released to the PSN on January 24th and amounted to nothing. It now seems like the official Twitter page for the game have ceased to keep this in mind and erased tweets concerning this original statement and a reader remarked about this being suspicious. If all of the tweets concerning this have now disappeared, will this ever come out on the PlayStation Network or do they have other plans?

What do you think about this? Are you more interested when new Killzone games will be available?

I just want Killzone on my Vita, personally. It’s one of the few online console FPS games I actually really love and I’m gonna want a few good FPS games that take advantage of the analog sticks- Uncharted and Resistance will be good, just not quite good enough to completely blow my mind. That’s where Killzone comes in.
Killzone’s always been about the visuals, arguably, and I really hope Killzone Vita delivers good on that. If it looks as stunning as Killzone 3, that’s more than sufficient. I’m excited.

I hope for KZ4 they combine KZ2 and KZ3, there are things I love about both games, but all in all, KZ2 would take home the trophy for the better game!

They’ll most likely do just that, man. That’s how game trilogies work, most of the time. First one’s great, second one’s graphically amazing and a much larger scale title but the gameplay isn’t quite as good, the third one combines the greatness of the first two into the best game of the set. I can think of quite a few series that work this way. :o
Still, Killzone Vita’s what I lust after most. Only Resistance Vita compares in terms of my own personal hype- I’m not a fan of FPS games on console but this is a real game-changer. The best FPS controls on the go? Amazing near-PS3 level visuals on an OLED screen? Tons of social features and no real compromises in game content? Yes please. Yes yes yes please.

Well I feel that one of the things that worked in the first game was the death of Garza. That character follows you throughout most of the game enabling a connection between you and him, through the main character, Sev. And when he is killed by Redec, along with the scientist, you feel angry. This just made the end battle against the main antagonist a lot more interesting.
In the third game there is none of that. They tried to shift the story around giving it a Tarantino look by starting from the middle of the timeline and also introducing the 6 month period in which the Helghast hunts the ISA in the jungle, but none of that really got my attention like Garza’s death did. They already knew that was a successful plot point so I think they tried that making it appear that Rico died in the beginning after the evac. of Pyrrhus, but I only really understood that Sev thought Rico was dead when the character actually says that after seeing Rico alive during the rescue sequence. I didn’t have time to establish a connection to Rico in the beginning of the game enough for me to miss him when he died. And the second game had more epic moments. The MAWLR was a pretty epic moment, but they throw you into the action so fast, with no catalytic event nor exposition. You’re just there throwing rockets at those yellow things. It took me a while to understand what was happen and force myself to enjoy that epic moment.Another thing that pissed me off a little was the fact that some of the cut scenes could have been in game. Like the scene when they are in the junk yard and that enormous machine almost kills the ISA before destroying one of the Petrusite towers. After that the machine malfunctions and they have to escape running and jumping out of there. We’ve seen scenes like this in Modern Warfare, in which you have no weapon and you only have to escape. It’s absolutely possible. If Killzone 3 had less cutscenes and more in game action, even if it’s completely linear like the new Call of Duty, it would give the players more immersion.
