Excitement regarding the release of the PS Vita has now hit another level, as we have finally entered the same month it goes up for sale. Now is the time for each retailer to try and do their best to win your custom, and while there will not be much difference in the price, these stores will try to offer you some sort of deal – it’s going to be a feeding frenzy.
While the price of the Vita will not change the bundles they have will, as we have seen recently from the likes of Amazon. An article here points out that because they had seen a better deal elsewhere they had cancelled their pre-order with Amazon. However, the online retail giant recently improved on their deal and now offer Sony’s handheld console for $299.99; this gives you the 3G/Wi-Fi model and a $55 bundle, which consists of PSN game, DataConnect Session Pass and an 8GB memory card.

Where have you pre-ordered your Vita from and what deal did you get?
There have been a few arguments as to why you should not buy the 3G version of the Vita, but support for the device has now started to increase. One of the main arguments was due to the fact 4G is coming and makes 3G look past it. However, you cannot moan about spending just $50 more than the Wi-Fi only model – the difference with the iPad Wi-FI and Wi-Fi/3G is $100. A majority of gamers might not use the 3G function, but as this article says, it’s there if you ever needed it.
The reason they say this is because future games might need the 3G function more than the ones soon to be available. You won’t even have to sign a contract, which means if you know you will need to use 3G during a certain month then you can just buy a data bundle as and when.
Some people will argue this is yet another device you have to carry on your person, and there have been some arguments suggesting why would you need a Vita when the iPhone or other such smartphone devices does it all? While this is true for the most part, you have to remember the 3G version of the Vita will allow you to pause your game and then check your Twitter or Facebook out and once finished can surf the Internet and then back to gaming again. Yes the iPhone can do this, but not with the kind of graphics you will see on Sony’s latest handheld console.
It’s feared that the launch of the Vita in the US will be similar to that in Japan, but we already discussed that the main reason for this was due to lack of decent games at launch. Looking over some of those titles we can see they are more geared towards the west – but then again nothing is guaranteed.
Having seen a few hands-on reviews of this latest device, we have to love the video review below, as it has that more friendly family appeal to it.
While the PlayStation Vita is said to be the best handheld ever, it still has a few issue, which a recent article has listed. They say that a screen and rear touchscreen protector would be welcome, unable to take screenshots while you are in Remote Play mode and issues with playing in direct sunlight. However, the worst problem is with the battery life, but we have a few suggestions to resolve this issue here.
Only time will tell if the PS Vita will be a success; we should have a better idea in a couple of months. Where do you stand, do you think Sony’s latest handheld will finally stand up to Nintendo?
