Drivers for AMD Catalyst 12.3 ready to download
A new set of Radeon drivers taking the Catalyst driver package up to version 12.3 has been released by AMD and this will support Windows 7 and Windows Vista for the Radeon HD 7000 series. The Catalyst 12.3 is said to have fixed the Catalyst Control Center startup delays, which has been an issue for many AMD graphics card owners.
AMD claims this will fix this common problem and PCR Online report this with news that the drivers should sort out many issues experienced with PC games, and this will focus on getting rid of texture corruption and flickering in games like Skyrim, when anti-aliasing is enabled. Problems encountered when using DirectX 9 and Crossfire in Alan Wake will be sorted, a fix for a system hang for Far Cry 2 when using high graphics settings are included, along with another crash fix in relation to anti-aliasing for Tom Clancy HAWX has been introduced.
AMD have a list of release notes for Version 12.3 on their site, and the package contains an AMD display driver version 8.951, HydraVision for Windows Vista and Windows 7, Southbridge/IXP Driver and AMD Catalyst Control Center version 8.951 / AMD Vision Engine Control Center version 8.951. An important message is also delivered as the AMD Catalyst Control Center/ AMD Vision Engine Control Center requires that the Microsoft .NET Framework SP1 be installed for Windows XP and Windows Vista. Without this installed it will not launch effectively and users will experience a message of error.
