Latest Transformers: Fall of Cybertron particulars

The Autobots and the Decepticons are back again to do battle in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and fans will be pleased to know that an arrival date has been set for this summer. This new epic Transformers game is located on Cybertron and we are really looking forward to this, so we thought it would be ideal to find out some particulars.

A new trailer has given us a bit of insight into what will be expected along with a time of arrival and the US release date is slated for August 28, although a UK launch date has yet to be confirmed. As CVG report on Activision’s recent announcement they also mention that Developer High Moon has no plans to introduce this to the PC, and that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are their main focus. Their explanation for this is that PC development is not a strong area of their expertise.

To get further insight we head over to Metro for a Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron preview, and look at a few questions and answers from director Matt Tieger’s interview with GameCentral. With this edition being a direct sequel 2010’s brilliant War For Cybertron, there is plenty of excitement surrounding this title, and seeing the gigantic figure of Metroplex has only added to this. One of the first screenshots viewed revolves around Decepticon Vortex, who is a member of the Combaticon team and transforms into a Cybertronian helicopter.

The setting is just before the Transformers travel to Earth and Unreal Engine 3 gives a massive scale of the level to this game, focusing on each individual talent the trailer shows Vortex transforming into the arm of Bruticus allowing the first experience of a playable combiner in the series. An advanced customization feature still only contains four types, which are the Scientist, Infiltrator, Destroyer, and the Titan, although this feature has evolved since that seen in War For Cyberton giving users the opportunity to change everything from body parts and weapons to spray jobs and special abilities.

When asked about whether there will be any racing sections, Matt Tieger said there are still places where you race but not as many as before, although there are quite a few jet sequences. A question about how many playable characters there is, had him stumped, he mentioned about six off the cuff, they included Cliffjumper, Jazz, Vortex, Bruticus, Grimlock, and Optimus Prime, although he said there will be more divulged nearer the time. Matt Tieger feels that non-Transformers fans will also enjoy this version, as there is more of the player actually being in control with less focus on the storyline being pushed, even though the story will have a way of grabbing you.
