Reaction to Dead Space 3 Co-Op rumors

There could be some gameplay and weapon changes in store for Dead Space 3 if recent rumors regarding a co-op mode are true, and if this does turn out to be the case then we can be sure that fans of the franchise will want to share their reaction. We don’t even have a solid release date for the game, so we have to take such rumors with a pinch of salt – let’s hope we learn more next month during E3 2012.

In the rumored co-op mode the main character will be fighting alongside someone who you would not want to meet in a dark alley, as he has a grotesque scar on his face and piercing red eyes. However, do not let this put you off because he is there to help and guide you. There will be some gamers who feel that the co-op mode will detract you from the main part of the game saying it’s unnecessary, but as long as it does not affect the single-player mode then we don’t see what the issue is.

Having said that what has made Dead Space so popular in the past is its isolation, so offering a co-op mode would go against this – then again maybe it is time for a change but there’s no getting away from the fact that it will take away the fear factor within the game?

Let’s say that this rumor is true, one way to still make this a nail biting game is to bring in more enemies and make them tougher, this will counter having an extra guy for support. Now you may think why have a co-op mode in the first place if you are going to make that new mode tougher, well it just adds a new dimension to the game because you can interact with your companion instead of going stir crazy doing all the work on your own.

EA can certainly make a go of this if done correctly and IGN thinks that they can, as they have detailed what they think Cooperative Multiplayer will bring to Dead Space 3.

If this rumor is true do you welcome it?
