Timesplitters 4 release less popular than HD collection

Recent news on an eventual release of Timesplitters 4 shows it doesn’t look to be apparent in the near future, yet the idea of this still seems to be less popular than a HD collection, and a remake of the whole franchise would be gratefully received. The series was originally developed by Free Radical, which Crytek obtained in February 2009, and many fans have expected more TimeSplitters but overall there has not been a big call for a sequel.

According to Crytek’s CEO, Cevat Yerli, the team is not working on Timesplitters 4 and that there is not much chance of this coming to fruition, revealing that there are too many obstacles to take into account IGN report on a retail release being out of the question. A recent interview with the CEO unraveled the exciting idea of a TimeSplitters for G-Face, although Yerli admits, “I wish we were working on it.” Not knowing how big the fan base is gives reason to doubt whether a sequel would go down well with larger audiences and at the moment, and there is not enough industry demand.

Since the acquisition of Free Radical, the thought of a fourth entry would appeal to the fans and the concept was there previously, but even on CryEngine there would be fundamental issues with the idea. With some fans showing interest in the an updated version of Timesplitters 2 and 3 this would be nice to see on the Cry engine 3, and the suggestion of a HD collection would be an ideal way to find out the size of the fan base.

A big call for a HD collection among fans overshadows any expectancy for a sequel and many feel that this should be considered. What are your views on this? Maybe you would like to see this on the PS Vita. Do you think a HD remake would be worth doing to check out how significant the fan base is? Maybe you would like to see this on the PS Vita.
