FIFA 13 to immortalize Messi
Regarded as the best football player in the world FIFA 13 is set to immortalize Lionel Messi being on the cover of the upcoming game, which is scheduled for release in late September. EA Sports unveiled the official cover at the end of June, which shows the man himself sporting the new FC Barcelona kit.
He used to be under contract with Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer franchise, including making the cover of PES from 2009-11, and to add more to the ongoing debate about the worlds best you will find Cristiano Ronaldo on the cover of PES 2013. In an article on Bleacher Report, the author is a Barcelona fan that picked out FIFA 13’s executive producer statement that “FIFA 13 will capture the drama and unpredictability of real-world football.”
As a fan of Barca, questions are raised whether players will be able to dive in this edition and those who watch continental football will familiarize with this common placed attempt to con referees. To be fair this would be a fun addition to the game along with the choice to act like Joey Barton and get booked for decent lashing out at several players as you go. Yellow and red cards for imitating a foul as well as committing one would be ideal, and the win some lose some aspect would add character to the game.
More creativity in attack is one of the main features set to embrace the world of FIFA 13, and after this years boring old football from the likes of Chelsea and Spain it would be nice to see more ambition in the final third of the pitch. A Balotelli shirt-off celebration would also be a nice touch, although a yellow card may go hand-in-hand. In other FIFA news, The Verge briefly talks about the unforeseen consequences of altering connected systems as some strange looking results have been experienced in the current game with players limbs sometime rotating into physically impossible positions.
In FIFA 13 this has been looked into and everything has been dissected from how footballers should interact when they make contact to how the body movements react delivering more realistic collisions. A couple of weeks ago we also wrote about a FIFA 13 pre-order bonus and Ultimate Edition offering 24 FIFA Ultimate Team gold packs, which is said to be worth at least £15, and this will be available for the 24 weeks that follow the release of the game.
As there will be a debate about whether sports games are necessary every year many fans will insist that not only does the gameplay improve but the environments, kits, players and the years events also reflect the constant need for a game every season evolving more new improvements with each edition. I personally would like to see some great teams of the past as well as a proper classic team of players including the likes of Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Best, Platini, Rossi, etc along with classic World Cup winning sides and clubs sides from the past. What would you like to see added in FIFA 13?
