Halo 4 to have Surface Tablet support

The end of the year is looking to be a great time for Microsoft, not only will we be getting Halo 4 for the Xbox 360 but also Windows 8 and the RT version in October, which makes us think that the Surface Tablet will be released around the same time. With Halo 4 set for release shortly after it makes sense for it to have some sort of Surface Tablet support.

This support is more than speculation as Don Matrick said during Gamebeat 2012 that the game will be able to work with the new tablet device, but Microsoft’s Executive was reluctant to share any more details. It’s a good bet that it will be far more than a limited support and could have a tight integration, much like Sony does with certain PS3 and PS Vita games.

With concerns for the Surface Tablet not being able to make the kind of impression on the gaming market that it needs in order to survive offering some kind of Halo 4 support by way of an awesome app could be just want it needs to give it that boost. There’s no denying that this will be one of the biggest games of 2012, so it would be silly for Microsoft not to take advantage of this and try to increase sales of their upcoming tablet.

However, there is a possibility that we are getting ahead of ourselves and that this could be little more than an app to keep track of items you have collected etc. Now some gamers might think that Halo 4 will be able to run on the Surface tablet, but this is very unlikely. Having said that there are suggestions that there could be a tablet specific version, which would make sense. What better way to not only promote the game but the new tablet device and the Windows mobile OS platform as well.

If it isn’t any of those things then maybe they will go down the second screen route like what Nintendo will be offering with the Wii U, it’s obvious that Microsoft will be doing this thanks to SmartGlass?
