GTA 5 could milk PS3 Super Slim
Since the release of the first Grand Theft Auto V trailer there has been much debate as to when Rockstar will actually release their big title, it was first assumed to be this year, but that’s looking less likely with each passing day. The smart money would be 2013, even though there are suggestions that looking at the recent screenshots it could be a next-gen title.
If it’s Rockstar’s hope to sell as many copies of GTA 5 as possible – and we have no reason to believe any different – then they will need to release it as a current-gen title because of the huge install base. So let’s say that we’re looking at an early 2013 title now this could be a perfect catalyst to help sell more units of the rumored PS3 Super Slim, which could be released as early as this year.
Sony knows that they need to do more to try and sell more PlayStation 3 consoles and one way they could do this is by releasing a new version, one that would not only be slimmer but cheaper as well – something that’s very important for this economy. There’s no argument that one is needed, but just imagine how cool it would be to have a GTA V bundled version once the game hits the market, what better way to milk the sales of the newer PS3.
We might be getting too ahead of ourselves because the game could still release this year, and if it does then the above mentioned PS3 Super Slim bundle could do very well over the Holiday Season, but with the release of GTA 5 and the slimmer PlayStation 3 it’s all speculation for now.
We don’t know how much you would want to take from what we’re about to say, but we thought we would suggest it anyway. A huge factor why Grand Theft Auto V might not be released this year could be down to the amount of time a publisher likes to have their pre-orders in place. More often than not huge titles like to have pre-orders in place at least 25 weeks before the game is due to be released.
Now we’re not saying that Rockstar will struggle to sell copies of their upcoming title, but it’s always nice to know you have a decent amount of pre-orders ahead of release day. This is not always the case, but it’s certainly food for thought.

But most likely i kind of agree with II2DOWN and his statement's on this article. So yeah hes right that obviosly they are not going to release on next gen because that is like 2 yrs away and that is too long from their first trailer. First of all there is going to be any xbox720 anytime early next year or this year.and another pthing is that they never announced that console yet.and they've been working on the game for four years so it is most likley that its going to be on then current gen. DON'T THINK AHEAD PEOPLE! Now please stop saying that it is going to be on the next gen because the ps3 is the same no matter what and both consoles have practically the same graphics so theres my point.
In terms of performance , PS3 is on top, then it's 360, the PS3 has slightly better graphics and is easier to work with because of blu ray. It sucks how you needed multiple discs for games like L.A. Noir on the 360 but I feel my trusty rusty PS3 let me down with all that Skyrim BS. Although I agree, it's pretty frustrating when I read articles about people who claim it's next gen, it's painstakingly obvious that R* won't wait for another 1 1/2 2 years to let us get our hands on this soon to be masterpiece. Just get your $60 bucks ready for a realse date coming in the near future to pre order and break records

I own a PS3 but yeah xbox was easier to work with because it's format of the CD and the CPU was more traditional, ps3 was a complicated machine which confused dev's. However R* do prefer the PS3 more if you read some articles
Xbox 360 is easier to develop for, which is why GTA IV looked better. Go back to 1st grade kid.

Chill people! I have both consoles too! They're the same! It's just that Unreal Engine 3 games run and look better on the Xbox 360. Batman Arkham Asylum ran much better and it looked so much better than the PS3 version. It had better FPS, SSAO and MotionBlur. Arkham City was pretty much the same on both consoles but I bought it for the Xbox 360 just to continue the franchise on the same console. Apart from that, I own all of the Assassin's Creed games on PS3, them being a tad better on the Xbox 360.
i still think that gta v will be a xbox 8 or 720 launch title i really cant see it coming out on the 360 or ps3 this late in those two consoles life cycle

and if it is there is no reason for the developers to not to utilise the extra power the PS3 has.....they do optimize their games for PC same should be possible with the PS3

There's a lot of evidence showing the better graphical power of the PS3 although it's not an enormous gap between PS3 and 360, they both have their pros and cons
True. Look at games like 'the last of us' and 'uncharted'. These PS3 games have graphics you simply don't get on the Xbox.

The real HOT rumour is that GTA5 will be PS3 exclusive... I for one am happy at this, as it felt to me that GTA4 was severely held back by the XBox storage and graphical limitations.

It seems that almost everyone on this page is just looking for an argument. Opinion: GTA5 will prob come out next year because, there hasn't even been a trailer containing solid game play, and mainly because, and i could be wrong, but im pretty sure absolutely no were has even started taking reservations to know how many copy they need on release day ect. And another thought, I too have both systems, and just by recent history I'd say that if there is a special console release ATALL, then it would probably be on Xbox due to the fact that players pay for membership and that includes occasional early releases, eg: episodes from liberty city, MW3 collection 1&2 ,ect. Still hoping for it this year, but not expecting:p

Why would they do that they actually want to make money if anyone is going to get an exclusive it will be xbox, Just like for COD MW3 xbox gets the exclusive because its the biggest selling console, and not only that an xbox exclusive is also a pc exclusive. its called the bigger market share wins.

Also a vast proportion of Xbox sales are RROD replacements, so it's ACTIVE userbase is much smaller than PS3. Here are the official end of year sales figures for both consoles, of course the American gaming media won't tell you this, because it's not looking great for the cheaper and earlier launched American console... PS3 / Xbox360 2011: 13.9m / 13.6m 2010: 14.3m / 11.9m 2009: 13.0m / 11.7m 2008: 10.1m / 10.0m 2007: 9.1m / 7.7m You are more than welcome to check the official Microsoft and Sony end of year reports, where these numbers came from..... You should also ask your American gaming website why it prefers to cherrypick American NPD-only gaming figures when it suits the American console, yet global news and numbers when that suits the American console.... We call it editorial bias and backhanders.
Ok I understand the storage problems on xbox 360, which is why I'll probly get it for PS3, but if you actually did some research, you would know that the graphics chip in the PS3 is weaker than the Xbox's. Plus the reason why some games look so good is because the graphics chip is getting help from the Cell.
The graphics chip in the PS3 is indeed weaker, but thankfully the PS3 also has the cell to do GPU work. That's why when you code for PS3 alone, you have RSX + CELL as a GPU, and then it's 10x more powerful than anything the Xbox360 can handle. Take a look at the PS3 exclusives, they simply can't be done on Xbox360. Talking about silicon in isolation is VERY naive, but it suits the Xbox fanboys down to the ground, because it appears like the Xbox is superior.
