Skyrim Dawnguard: A week to PS3 release, supposedly
Bethesda has been a little quiet of late in regards to when they will make Skyrim Dawnguard available to both PS3 and PC users, because supposedly there should be only a week to go. Those with an Xbox 360 were happy in the knowledge that they were able to get the very first DLC thanks to an exclusive deal that Microsoft had in place with Bethesda.
What concerns us is the fact that we all assumed that this was a one-month exclusive just like the exclusive Microsoft has in place with Call of Duty titles, and if this was the case then there should be only a week to go until those with a PlayStation 3 and a PC will be able to get their hands on this new content.
However, we do find it strange that there’s a lack of information from Bethesda, which leads us to believe that we might have to wait a while longer – how long this is we have no idea. Let’s get practical for a moment shall we, the likelihood that PS3 users will get to play Dawnguard next week is looking highly unlikely.
We recently discussed how we thought there was no reason for concern in terms of a delay for the DLC to come to the PS3 or PC, but as time goes by it’s hard not to change our minds on this. It’s things like this that gives the PlayStation 3 such a hard time, it seems time and again PS3 users get the raw end of the deal.
So why would there be a delay with Skyrim Dawngaurd DLC for the PS3? If we do go over the expected one-month exclusive deal then we can only presume that Bethesda are experiencing the same issues they had and in some cases are still having with the main part of the game. Then again maybe the developers are trying to rectify some of the issues Xbox 360 users are having with the DLC and will release Dawngaurd on the PS3 and PC once they have a patch for it.
What other reasons can you think of why there would be such a delay?

listen up. if your attempting to make a point you gotta put some stank on the message. 1st off assuming you whinny jackasses can control yourself and not get the dawnguard dlc, good for you this is called self control. 2nd you have to control the message. meaning that you have to account for the possibility of spin. this is the possibility of using one of the many outcomes of your message against you now or in the future. with that in mind a ideal strategy would be to get the dlc but delay the purchase. with this Bethesda can't say later that the fan base is smaller than Xbox to justify future delays. a week to the day would be sufficient. with enough commitment's to the purchase delay you could create a decent uproar at Bethesda. an ideal final piece would be a collective message on Hine's blog possibly. something to the affect of everyone who having waited goes on his blog immediately after downloading and say something short and identical. like my name is ------------ . from now on the longer we wait, the longer you wait. your money is the only form of protest a corporate entity will take notice of. take some control and stand up. people will say your whining and a bunch of other bull. but the reason your mad is unfair. is. unfair. if the outcome favoured you and not them the reaction would be no different, and anyone who say's otherwise is a liar, or worse someone who's to pathetic to accept the possibility that a reach around does not have to be the outcome. so the only question left is who are you.
It really isn't Microsoft's fault, like some of you are suggesting. It is completely Bethesda's fault for neglecting their ps3 customers (like myself). I completely agree with Falcon D. Stormvoice. If you didn't see what he said, here is an exact copy: I have defended Bethesda from day one but I can't defend this. Release the add-on in 2014 for all I care; it gets released when it gets released and that's completely fine. Hell, there's nothing saying you had to release Skyrim for the PS3 in the first place. The free market is based on voluntary choice -- you choose whether or not to make something and we choose whether or not to purchase it. But you made the choice to develop for the PS3 and while you may be regretting that, and at least a hundred thousand PS3 users bought it -- gave you cashy-money for it. And they didn't pay any less than a 360 or PC user, so you ought to treat them like customers, yeah? The delay isn't the problem. Treating us like mushrooms -- keeping us in the dark and feeding us **** -- is the problem
its all a load of bull they should haveit all patched andready togo 31 days after xbox release people would quite content waiting if they just gave us a real date wen the y intend to relase it
Im pretty sure they are not corrupt. You know Bethesda's games have bugs and glitches. They want to make it perfect for PC/PS3 users, I am a PC user, and I say, if the game runs better, then delay as long as you need. Dont let your anger over not getting dawnguard right away cloud your judgement of a company that provides awesome RPG's to its customers (and please try to spell correctly when you post something, its corrupt, not curuped) :/...
look anyone willing to take bribes are currupt and also all corupuations are currupt.( btw people like me dont need to spell correcly)
To me this is how it sounds, say the xbox is white people, and the pc is black people and the ps3 are mexicans. Say the xbox went to the store and bought something they go through and show a membership card and they're fine. Then the ps3 and pc go and the cashier is like nope you don't have a card so you have to wait a month to buy these.
I cant tell if you are being serious or sarcastic but Im pretty sure it has nothing to do with race, Im a PC user, and Im white btw
Well damn I was all excited about the dlc today and only to find out this bullshit I mean common tel me it's not fair for us psn and pc players. It's weird the day it's suppost to come out for us there's a bug ??? I think that xbox's contract. Bargained for this dlc to be late for us
the fact of the matter is that bill gates pays way to much money to get these updates earlier........i have argued with xbox owners many times over which system is better and the only argument they ever have is "at least xbox hasn't been hacked"....the only reason xbox has never been hacked is there would be no point and the hacker would gain nothing from it
I think that the dlc will be comming out tommaro because cod does the same thing by giving you lttle information then all of a suden the dlc is out.
Bethesda like the Xbox because it's easier to program for. I'm sure I remember Todd Howard being quoted as saying so when they were debuting Skyrim at one of the big game shows. I'm a PS3 user and I think it's a shame the way certain software companies run down and go on and on, negatively, about the PS3's point of difference. Poor old Sony tried to do something different, so that they wouldn't have to pay Microsoft for Windows kernels or Intel for Pentium processors, and some software developers just won't back them. Reminds me of Windows Vista lol
They didn't try and do something different really though did they. They basically got an IBM processor that they new was ridiculously hard to program and chose a Linux kernel because they don't have their own.
Both the ps3 and xbox 360 use powerpc processors from ibm... seriously where do you guys come up with some of the s**t you say?
I bought skyrim for both ps3 and PC. How do I feel? Not bad actually. Apparently dawnguard gets released and there are slot of bugs. While I do also have a 360, IM a bigger ps3/PC fan. I'd much rather the 360 get a game first with all these bugs in it. That way, the ps3 and PC get a much better product. You really think about it, Microsoft made a mistake by getting it early. Now the ps3 and PC users will get a better beginning experience.
No, I disagree. Microsoft themselves will of course have thought of that when they decided to make the deal with Bethesda. Xbox 360, PC and PS3 are all very different platforms, and you can't say that the bugs on the 360 version will necessarily be fixed for the PC or PS3 release. Chances are, there will be whole new ones. Xbox gamers are not being used as beta-testers, as PS3 owners are optimistically claiming. This is about money, and you can bet Microsoft wouldn't be so dumb as to shoot themselves in the foot over this. Personally, I wouldn't be all that surprised if this never sees a PS3 release. The vampire-related Vile Lair expansion for Oblivion was never released on PS3, after all. I expect and hope that Dawnguard WILL be, but I won't be entirely convinced until it happens.
Finally, I fully agree with Anonymoose. Not all platforms work the same, if they did why even bother making PS3 and 360. Some people don't think, it's sad really... Atlest this guy/girl does..(sorry about the guy/girl, but you can never be sure with some names here lol :p)
The thing that annoys me the most is that it's all about the money. I honestly don't believe that Bethesda cares much for their fans anymore. They pounce at the first opportunity for profit. They don't care. Bethesda is such a large company now-a-days, I don't think they even need the money from the deal they made with Microsoft. But, then again, I don't know. My point: they don't care about the fans anymore.
The best way to vote is with your wallet. And those people with xboxes, and PCs should be silent, they have mods and the dlc. They'll not care, because it is not their problem...They'll say "stop bitching, stop crying, just wait" Lol...but if the shoe was on the other foot theyd yell"boycott!" Indeed, boycott Let them know ps3, xbox, or pc users all of us wont put up with this greedy, eff you mentality. Dont buy it, and dont listen to those who just cant relate, or dont care (even if they claim to not have the dlc) PC, and PS3 users paid for the game too...we deserve all the same benefits
I have defended Bethesda from day one but I can't defend this. Release the add-on in 2014 for all I care; it gets released when it gets released and that's completely fine. You are absolutely right! This is an amazing post. Wish people at Bethesda would read it, because I don't think they fully comprehend what a marketing nightmare their silence on this topic happens to be. Disappointment isn't a selling feature.
I own both a 360 and PS3. I bout Skyrim for PS3 thinking it would be a better experience. I was sorely mistaken... it's ignorant that PS3 gets screwed over in almost everything. I for one dispise Bethesda for how they've treated their PS3 customers.
I am an Xbox player and a computer gamer. After experiencing both sides of this issue I think it all evens out in the end unless you have a PS3. Xbox lacks the modding tool and great user content but gets DLC first, PC gets stuff late because Microsoft realised before other companies that having a product first is a good thing on the market but has the great mods created by the devoted and talented community, and PS3 users just kinda have to deal...atleast you have free online play.
Don't know for sure if there will be another delay for me getting it but i can tell you one thing for sure i am pissed that i had to wait a whole month later than my friends did all i can tell xbox is to piss off.
wouldnt be suprise of xbox goin under the table to pay off for having realeased to them and i mean if really think about it not the other 2 formats i mean come on be better to send it to all consoles moment on completion and not one console just so stupid. and if wonder why they not saying apon its realease who knows to make pc and ps3 users sweat little bit to get those high purchases or to do those patches. ya would think that the company making this pack would be working on project on each console
wonder if they are running into bugs galore and are remaining mum until they are sure they have a solid release. don't want a repeat performance, do we?
Is it even going to be released to ps3? All of the ads and commercials i've seen for it have been for xbox kinect (sorry for any spelling errors)
If we were going to get it late, they would have announced it already. The reason they haven't announced anything is probably because there is nothing to announce. They'll just release it and that'll be it.
I bought dragons dogma, sold skyrim and havent looked back. The only thing Skyrim had going for it was a creator who is no longer with us and loyal fans, PC and playstation fans. Goodbye Bethesda, you MMO of Elderscrolls is a wow knockoff (and I've never even played that)
The elderscrolls series has been around since about 1993... and I'm almost positive that WOW wasn't even thought of then
Bethesda aren't even making ESO, Zenimax online is: and considering the post-launch modding support, I don't feel us PC gamers are exactly being under-appreciated. Can't say the same for PS3 players though, I'm actually starting to genuinely feel sorry for them.
I for one am growing tired of being screwed over by timed-exclusive dlc. We should show Bethesda (and all the other companies) that we aren't going to put up with this. If we all wait and don't buy it when it comes out for ps3/pc then they will have to drop the price on it early. Maybe then they will see that their deal with Microsoft really isn't worth it because they will be losing money from ps3/pc users.
If I had a choice, I'd stop using Windows and transfer to Linux instead. Is it me or is Microsft deliberately trying to tick off people who use their OS for gaming? I doubt you're gonna be able to avoid buying it though.
Yeahh...show them we won't put up with getting DLC late by not buying it when it does come out! That'll show them! But you still won't have the DLC...
Agreed, the best way to vote is with your wallet. And those people with xboxes, and PCs should be silent, they have mods and the dlc. They'll not care, because it is not their problem...They'll say "stop bitching, stop crying, just wait" Lol...but if the shoe was on the other foot theyd yell"boycott!" i bought a ps3 for bluray, free online and the idea that if i want to play online i would pay later for the experience of talking to others. but with tony hawk hd, bethesda dawnguard, and call of duty dlc always arriving late plus my vita really pisses me off when i cant stream play any ps3 titiles i want .psp titles costing 20$ a pop for subpar graffics i have to say that sony has screwed me from purchasing online because the memory for vita cards is too high for the savings the online offers i mean if were cutting distrobution out why the hell is it costing me the same if not more to download a full game for 45-50$ if the 8 gig cost 10-15 dollars theres no point in downloading cause the product should be 30 then i would save a couple dollars for each title and since they dont have pay distrobution, packaging, discs i want better savings and thats what matters and why when xbox delivers there next system i will jump ship, playstation has just dropped the ball to many times
If there is no news from Bethesda, how is it highly unlikely that we will not get the DLC next week? This is speculation. If anything, it will be released next week and patched later, as Bethesda has done this many times before. It allows them to make money earlier (as opposed to working out all the bugs before release), respect their deadline and it drops the game in the impatient hands of gamers.
