Nexus 7 gaming performance visualized
A couple of weeks ago we had mentioned the fact that the 8GB version of the Google Nexus 7 was not the ideal solution if you were into gaming, and that a larger storage version would be a better option, and news that the 16GB is already out of stock seems to be proof of this. You might be able to get this version in certain stores in the US and UK, but ordering the new Jelly Bean device direct from Google Play will have you waiting a while for new stock.
This is certainly a positive sign and seems to prove that this latest Android tablet is a hit with consumers. As yet no sales figures have been released, but going on the above news sales look as though they’re pretty healthy. There had been some concern that such a small tablet would not prove that popular, but it just shows that consumers demand more tablets of this size, which kind of makes us believe that those recent rumors of a smaller iPad are in fact true?
For those who’re still undecided if the Nexus 7 is a decent mobile gaming device then we hope that the video below will help to persuade you otherwise. There is already an issue early on in the video because of the low benchmark test with the CPU, but we do know that software can more than makeup for the lack of speed in this area.
It’s clear to see that the Nexus 7 is unable to compete with the new iPad, but as he says in the video “it gets the job done”. While the CPU scores below the Galaxy S3, the graphics scores better than the S2, which is no real surprise.
When it comes to testing the first game, which was Call of Duty 4 for Android you’ll be pleased to know that there are no lag issues, and it’s also noted that gaming on this size device is more enjoyable for the reviewer than an iPad, which must have something to do with being much easier to hold.
This is certainly a good point because while it’s nice to play games on the iPad it can get awkward to hold after a while. Then there’s the issue with the iPhone, the device is just too small to enjoy playing games, but then so is a 4.5 and 5-inch device, which is why it’s better to have a phone for just gaming hear and there and a 7-inch tablet to fulfill more of your portable gaming needs, and that’s just where the Nexus 7 comes in.
