Skyrim Dawnguard extended PC and PS3 wait

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterest

Skyrim Dawnguard released on the Xbox 360 on June 26, and is set be coming out for the PC and PlayStation 3 although the PC version is expected sooner than the PS3, making the Sony console the last of them to get this eagerly awaited download. This looks to be upsetting gamers on these platforms especially since they have seen the Xbox users come to an end of the 30 day exclusive.

Apparently, this is down to Skyrim patch 1.7 required before you can install the add-on, and once the PC beta is finished the patch will go live on that platform first. Reporting this news Product Reviews highlights the submission process, which delays the Xbox 360 and PS3 patch by 1-2 weeks. Official confirmation of this has come from Bethesda via Twitter channels and in this, it is reveled that it would launch in the “coming weeks.”

Confusion has surrounded Bethesda’s response although it has been noted that this is because of the patch being needed before PS3 and PC users can install the DLC, and even though Xbox 360 received patch 1.6, the next patch will include these fixes and skip that version for PC and PlayStation 3. Now that the Xbox 30-day exclusive has gone many may be disappointed by Bethesda as over a month is far too long to wait and the fact that it is still not released is unacceptable for most, who feel a discount for both platforms would be a nice gesture.

The Vice President of PR and Marketing at Bethesda, Pete Hines has said not so fast to those expecting Dawnguard informing them that the DLC has not been announced for any other platform and there’s no released timeline. Documenting this SuddenBrain.com write about PS3 and PC gamers patiently waiting for a month and Hines saying hang on is not sitting well with many fans. His recent tweet went on to say that he was not saying that the DLC would never come to other platforms, just that there would be no news today, and although some may feel that he is dragging it out to wind up the fanbase, by the sound of the responses he has sure achieved to get some dissatisfied reactions. Are you a PS3 or PC owner that has put plenty of hours into Skyrim? Do you feel this is terrible marketing on Bethesda’s part?

seriously doubt I will buy this add-on now. They can try and claim that they are polishing dawnguard up for pc and playstation all they like but I am a playstation owner that played with a bugged game for 6 months. They have now had over a month to make any improvements needed to dlc and they have failed in doing so. They are also keeping us in the dark about an expected release date. I am just worried that they are looking to the fact that x-box players own half of total games and so are focused on improving their gameplay before everyone else. “sigh” really disappointed bethesda.

       You managed 6 months? wow
I sold my copy after 1 month! Couldn´t take all the bugs and lack of care from Bethesda!
They are probably the worst dev in this gen for the PS3, i am never ever buying another game developed by them, and i will wait carefully some months before buying any game published by them (but not developed).

      • Wooot56

Am I seriously the only one who has had no problems with the PS3 version of skyrim???

        • Jason_elliott

i havent had any problems my skyrim copy but the occassional freeze happens

          • Destroior

funny i have pc,xbox and ps3 versions i play on pc for mods xbox my main for the dlc and ps3 really no reason just to have it but i think the dlc is not that great as i finish the dawngard in less than 3 hours and does not bring that much to the game other than some bugs like game crash and this happens most of the times you turn into vampire lord in city since you end up killing all town so game will crash in my opinion ps3 is taking only what they deserve i used to love ps3 but now i hate it as i remember when i bought my ps3 they were saying ps3 is the best far better than any console coming out for this generation and well its a lie has ps3 is not the best not even by far still think its not the fans fault but the owners of sony had it coming

        • http://www.facebook.com/stormystorms Falcon D. Stormvoice

No. People who have a stable experience just tend to not go around ranting about it.

  • InDIGnation

As a PC owner, I don’t think we have much of a right to complain with all the mods, but I am starting to feel genuinely sorry for PS3 owners; they’ve had  to bear the worst of it. If given the choice, I think the PS3 should get it before us (PC), they don’t deserve having to wait even longer.

  • Chuckles

Totally agree Jhg. Being a PC owner of the game I too feel disappointed, just happy we have fan made dlc :D.

  • Knight Crusader

This is not on another long wait for ps3 users I have put over 250 hours into skyrim and having waiting for dawnguard they should at least give us a expected release date for it.We still havent got the 1.7 update to get rid of the bugs or get mounted combat. They could of at least released this to tide us over. They are defently losing followers/fans.Bethesda sort it out

  • JL

I am a PS3 user and i don’t know about other but for me this is the LAST game i buy from Bethesda, no matter how good the game is this, is just unacceptable. A 30 day wait and other platforms get features i don’t, just gives a sense that they don’t care about the customers.

  • Qwrty

This is ridiculous We already waited the 30 days that microsoft imposed on us by agreeing to release exclusively to them 1st i have got numberous save files of skyrim on my ps3 and even if we where unable to get the content for 30 days (i dont mind that much about a 30 day longer wait) Bethesda COULD and SHOULD of released the update 1.7 during the 30 day wait period. Skyrim was the 1st game of bethesdas i have played and i heavily enjoy it.

I have eagerly awaited this DLC ever since announcement but now the wait is becoming a bit of a joke

  • AB

My problem isn’t with waiting the 30 days (or in this case more than 30 days). Dawnguard looks to be a great add-on so in my opinion it’s worth the wait. Although being so patient is difficult. My problem is that nobody at Bethesda even gives an estimate. “Coming weeks” can mean 2 weeks or 5 weeks. I want more specifics. I would be more comfortable knowing it was coming out in December than having to be checking everyday, every couple of hours, hoping someone has some kind of answer.

  • Kim Jolicoeur

“Pete Hines has said not so fast to those expecting Dawnguard informing
them that the DLC has not been announced for any other platform”

This is the statement that bothers me the most, as I’ve read it in many other publications.
To me, this means that Dawnguard isn’t even in the works for PS3 and PC. It means that 30-day exclusive for XBox was actually a full exclusive for XBox and that we, the consumers, have been lied to, since NO ONE at Bethesda has confirmed that Dawnguard would NOT come out for PS3 and PC after the 30-day exclusive.

Yet I specifically remember someone from Bethesda saying the DLC would be available after the 30-day period, which quelled some rage from PS3 & PC users.

This is nothing but a PR fiasco, and Mr. Hines should be fired for his ineptness and lack of transparency. He has failed to properly inform the consumer on the state of Dawnguard for other platforms, and his only defense is semantics. This is reflecting very badly on his employer, therefore, someone at Bethesda should show him the door.

  • Bryn1000

I’m a massive fan of elder scrolls series and fallout series… But Bethesda don’t seem to care about the PS3. If your not bothered, don’t take my money. Spend your time on the other platforms and stop making a million people angry

  • Carnage

Bethesda has once again disappointed me.
i still have had a nice twenty bucks in a nice, safe place since they first announced Dawnguard, so i can get a Playstation Network Prepaid card the MINUTE it came out for PS3. The fact that they are now saying that it may not even come out on it, makes me slightly annoyed. i have never even seen one shred of information about dawnguard, except the trailer, so as to save myself the experience, and now that the 30 day exclusivity is up, i was just about ready to go grab the DLC, then i read this. Disappointing.

  • Zackkowall

i dont even have any interest in even playing my newly made file anymore. Thanks Bethesda again you pissed off thousands of people good going

    • Chuckles

correction, millions of people :P. I agree however the money they made off x-box exclusive won’t make up for the amount of ps3 and PC users that are now pissed off at bethesda for the lack of news surrounding release date for dlc

  • Super_q_sideways

wtf this suck i play this game every day my guy is level 72 so wtf you guys suck i have betin the game/main quest at least 20 times

  • DsadSA

Apparently, this is down to Skyrim patch 1.7 required before you can install the add-on, and once the PC beta is finished the patch will go live on that platform first.”
Incorrect, Skyrim (European PC) was patched for Dawnguard at v1.6.0.89.

    • Chuckles

They have had a month to develop the patch which could’t be that had to incorporate into the game seeing as x-box got it on 26th of june not to mention most of dawnguard takes place in existing game world. If it is problems with patch 1.7 With money and staff numbers that bethesda have working on this game then they truly have become a joke.

  • Jesse1012

i am totally pissed off at bethesda i use to think they were the best game developer company but i was wrong it is sick to make there fans wait this long for ps3 and pc version its just sad and unproffesional i have pc so i get mods and stuff but i feel sorry for ps3 users always getting expansions and updates last :( …. sorry for any bad spelling lol

  • B-eazy06

The exclusivity thing is real dumb instead of putting the dlc out for xbox and delaying the other platforms they should just put it out for all platforms. Inevitably all they are doing is decreasing their profit because the great many PC and PS3 players are only gonna get discouraged and give up on it all together as well as any future dlc that Bethesda may be planning on releasing in the future. I’m no marketing expert or whatever it’s just common sense and from the many posts and angry Skyrim players posting on them you would think they would give something more solid about why it is being delayed.

  • Digstar

I’m not happy about the long wait but what rubs “salt into wounds” further is no news whatsoever from Bethesda. Surely a simple “hey guys, were still got some bugs to iron out” type response wouldn’t go astray. Problem is we’ve heard nothing.

  • Brendanorourke44

Love the games hate the company

  • Emperor Yaser

microsoft probably paid bethesda to realease it only on xbox

  • Knivesmillions

Have been anxiously awaiting this DLC for a while. To make both PC and PS3 wait for this is just showing whose business they favor most. It would make the most sense to do everything you need to do to release it on all platforms simultaneously. But to make PC and PS3 users wait, then expect them to pay $20 is ludicrous.

  • Knivesmillions

But then again, if money is involved then all logic usually tends to go out the window.

  • Kim Jolicoeur

Now I’m thinking that PC and PS3 will get a Game of the Year Edition that will include both DLCs and a bunch of the best user-created mods in a year or so.
    Or maybe for the holidays.

But like many others have said, I don’t mind waiting, I don’t even mind paying extra for it, I just want some honest info.

  • Destroior

funny i have pc,xbox and ps3 versions i play on pc for mods xbox my main for the dlc and ps3 really no reason just to have it but i think the dlc is not that great as i finish the dawngard in less than 3 hours and does not bring that much to the game other than some bugs like game crash and this happens most of the times you turn into vampire lord in city since you end up killing all town so game will crash in my opinion ps3 is taking only what they deserve i used to love ps3 but now i hate it as i remember when i bought my ps3 they were saying ps3 is the best far better than any console coming out for this generation and well its a lie has ps3 is not the best not even by far still think its not the fans fault but the owners of sony had it coming

And all your parents money can not buy a single punctuation mark, apparently.

      • Guest

”funny i have a pc, xbox and ps3”

  • X-GamerGurl-X

I don’t get what they have been doing for the past month whilst xbox have been enjoying this dlc, I made some new accounts in preparation for this dlc coming out and now we have to wait longer.. this sucks :L

  • Redman275

its a bit of a joke I cant understand why in the 30 days the xbox has had this but nothing has been passed to sony to go through certification for patching

  • Whalewhisker

Oblivion was the first TES game I played, though admittedly it was an illegal copy that my brother had installed on my computer. I bought Skyrim, mainly out of respect for the company, and I was a little disappointed when I heard that I would have to wait 30 days before getting Dawnguard for my PS3… Now im loosing the will to even bother with it. Whatever excitement and expectations I had over Dawngaurd seemed to have faded after such a wait with still no news… I certainly wont be paying £20 for it, I imagine that it will still have all the bugs that the 360 version had upon it’s release and then some.

  • Tomc543

It p****s me right of that every f*****g thing comes onto xbox first, I think all the f*****g componys should stop selling out to xbox, its p****s people right of!!!

  • A person

PS3 users should get a discount, PC users shouldn’t. They get mods and a beta for the new update, and what do PS3 get? Nothing. It’s annoying.

  • gamelover675309

i love bethesda and all that they’ve brought out but this is kind of embarrising and unfair to ps3 users i know absolutely nothing about designing games or dlc but i mean come on now bethesda did you not use the 30 days of exclusivity to microsoft to your advantage when you were making the dlc and patch for pc and ps3 and as i said i know nothing about how game designing works just throwing my opinion out there

  • Darkcyde

Bethesda you should take a step back and really look at the value of xbox to ps3 sales as it is clear that we are all rather f***** off at you for letting this happen. I mean ok your gonna be later than expected that’s fine beleave it or not, its the BS waking up every morning to check to see if your finger has been removed finally and realizing you still got it up there and not sorted it yet. For the love of got give us at date of release at least you owe us that. Yes YOU OWE US THAT for all the muppets that cued for Christmas and paid the full 49.99 only to have the price halfed 2 weeks after release, Or all the bugs, glitches and crashes we have put up with. Like many people i know if there isn’t either a release date given or the dlc it self released I will be selling my skyrim game and never wasting my time with you again.

And i really loved your games to :(

  • Why do you care

I HAVE ALL THE ELDER SCROLLS GAMES AND THIS HAS P**** ME OFF
SO GIVE US A F****** RELESE DATE AND WILL GET OF YOUR F****** BACK

  • Michaelhuang5

Come on, its pretty much obvious that @Bethblog created games for  us @PlayStation community just for the money no passion in to it. Microsoft owns their ass like Michael Patcher.

  • Deprived Fangirl

As a PS3 owner, I am disappointed in Bethesda’s poor marketing strategy.  Do they really think that they are “winding us up” by with holding information?

Tip, Bethesda: if you attempt to keep anything (or in this case, anyone) wound for too long, either it will snap, and BREAK…. or it will unwind entirely.  In either case; Bethesda, you are not accomplishing anything with your silence, other than angering your fanbase…. some to the point where they have given up on you.

  • Ibtehajather

Bethesda….u made dawnguard on a pc…held u even make skyrim on a pc….so u should at least give credit to the pc itself because without it…there won’t be skyrim or any other games.

  • Hosmer96

I don’t understand why Bethesda considers Xbox to be a better system, I believe Playstation is, and this is coming from someone who has owned both. I have logged over 500 hours in this game, which may not seem like a lot to some, but I have a job i must attend to as well. I remember when dawnguard was just a rumor, I’ve been excited since, but im not going to waste my time waiting for something when Bethesda keeps postponing it. This makes gamers like me not want to play the game, thus resenting it and the company. That’s going to lose more money then make it my friends.

  • Tony Clark13

I have been told on many occasions (by computer programmers) that the PS3 is, in fact very much “better” than the XBOX but much, much more difficult to program “properly” to get the Best out of the system.
