Skyrim Dawnguard extended PC and PS3 wait
Skyrim Dawnguard released on the Xbox 360 on June 26, and is set be coming out for the PC and PlayStation 3 although the PC version is expected sooner than the PS3, making the Sony console the last of them to get this eagerly awaited download. This looks to be upsetting gamers on these platforms especially since they have seen the Xbox users come to an end of the 30 day exclusive.
Apparently, this is down to Skyrim patch 1.7 required before you can install the add-on, and once the PC beta is finished the patch will go live on that platform first. Reporting this news Product Reviews highlights the submission process, which delays the Xbox 360 and PS3 patch by 1-2 weeks. Official confirmation of this has come from Bethesda via Twitter channels and in this, it is reveled that it would launch in the “coming weeks.”
Confusion has surrounded Bethesda’s response although it has been noted that this is because of the patch being needed before PS3 and PC users can install the DLC, and even though Xbox 360 received patch 1.6, the next patch will include these fixes and skip that version for PC and PlayStation 3. Now that the Xbox 30-day exclusive has gone many may be disappointed by Bethesda as over a month is far too long to wait and the fact that it is still not released is unacceptable for most, who feel a discount for both platforms would be a nice gesture.
The Vice President of PR and Marketing at Bethesda, Pete Hines has said not so fast to those expecting Dawnguard informing them that the DLC has not been announced for any other platform and there’s no released timeline. Documenting this SuddenBrain.com write about PS3 and PC gamers patiently waiting for a month and Hines saying hang on is not sitting well with many fans. His recent tweet went on to say that he was not saying that the DLC would never come to other platforms, just that there would be no news today, and although some may feel that he is dragging it out to wind up the fanbase, by the sound of the responses he has sure achieved to get some dissatisfied reactions. Are you a PS3 or PC owner that has put plenty of hours into Skyrim? Do you feel this is terrible marketing on Bethesda’s part?
