Minecraft effects and texture improvements
Minecraft maybe a popular game, but many will regard it as unattractive, and a video from Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders, shows a mod that adds effects and texture improvements such as realistic water, reflections and some beautiful lighting. In relation to this, we thought it would be a good idea to let our viewers in on various Minecraft news that may be of interest.
The various tweaks that can make Minecraft a more visually pleasurable experience is highlighted in article on Kotaku with a link giving gamers some insight into how to make this a presentable attractive video game for 2012, and the mod mentioned makes many improvements apparent, as this can also be used with actual gameplay. Reporting on a new block in Minecraft MCV mention this being due anytime soon according to head developer Jens ’Jeb’ Bergensten. The new block, announced on Twitter this weekend is expected to run commands, specified by the placer of the block, when activated by the redstone signals so successfully used by players to build complicated machines in their Minecraft worlds.
It is unnamed at present but apparently goes under the title of ‘Adventure Mode Control Block’, although this is expected to be abbreviated or shortened before Bergensten puts this into the game. The specifics are documented on MCV along with details of what players have asked for, and now it will be possible to add commands for changing difficulty on the go and to teleport the players around. The new block will not be craftable; it is strictly placeable by server administrators, ideal for adventure maps.
Back in May we spoke about the demand for Minecraft on the PlayStation 3, as there is an increasing desire for a PS3 version, and after a record number of downloads the XBLA game acquired in just a few days, there are calls for it to be available on the PSN. Do you feel It’s unfair that Minecraft is unavailable for the PS3? Maybe you would like to see it on the PS Vita as well.
