GTA 5 mystification concerning current or next-gen release
Questions about whether Grand Theft Auto V will release this year or the next has produced many rumors, especially with no specific date set for the next gen consoles, and in some cases, it seems like there are suggestions that the launch of both the PS4 and Xbox 720 could tie in with the release of GTA 5.
As we look forward to the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto, the general consensus is that this will be on the current consoles, although an article on Examiner suggests otherwise. They report on a new GTA 5 release date rumor and highlight concerns that this version could make the jump to the next consoles, which would mean current owners will be required to upgrade their systems. While they refer to a recent article on Tapscape.com the opinion here is that GTA V could be delayed until the next-gen consoles come out, and this speculation amounts to a chance that the PS4 and Xbox 720 may come out earlier than expected.
With Rockstar keeping their cards close to their chest in regards to a release date, the limited information really has got the rumor mill turning, although many fans are hoping the game will come out this year. A report on Product Reviews seems to be more believable, as their impression is that Grand Theft Auto V is not for the next-gen, and although the Rockstar has wet our appetite with the recent screenshots there is more information promised in the coming weeks, so a release date announcement is not out of the question.
While the momentum of the game builds, it seems that Rockstar are starting to promote GTA 5, giving us the impression that even though it could be too late for a Christmas release, sometime before April 2013 may be a believable time. The point we are trying to make is why Rockstar would release such a huge title on a new system when there is not a huge user base, with far more many gamers owning an Xbox 360 or PS3 in comparison to those who will have a next gen console. We can see this will probably be the case for sometime after the PS4 and Xbox 720 are released.
In other news, last week we wrote an article about the latest screenshots, and these have started to accumulate some excitement, as the lack of information was causing a loss of interest. With more news expected in coming weeks, we are hoping that a new game trailer will be on the cards, or even news of an actual release date. Maybe we are getting ahead of ourselves here, although we are still not expecting Grand Theft Auto V to be a next-gen release. Going back to the source, we can also see the new games that do release on the PS4 and Xbox 720 will not be an instant success, and the current consoles are bound to have plenty of support, even sometime after next gen systems arrive. What are your views? Are you more concerned that a next gen title would take even longer to come out?
