Not even a month has gone since the release of Borderlands 2 and going by the latest reviews, this title has had a decent reception, so now we are looking at the upcoming added content, which will be available from next week. Recent rumors about Borderlands 2 DLC campaign mention new characters being available in the first big add-on for the game.

Apparently, the new Borderlands 2 DLC will feature pirates and is touted to be called Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty, although we do wonder about the name Captain Scarlett. In an article on Kotaku, they inform their readers that the downloadable content will be coming out on Tuesday the 16th of October available for $US10 on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC. The DLC is said to highlight a totally new part of Pandora wasteland, which was once a beautiful resort by the sea known as Oasis. This area will introduce plenty of new characters, where players will have to take on pirates and sandworms while searching for Captain Scarlett’s treasure.

In other news, the Los Angeles Times writes about the likes of Borderlands 2 and Madden leading games sale during the month of September. Highlighting the recent figures for both games last month they inform us that Borderlands 2 was the second best selling game, and as far as first month sales go, it more than tripled the original title. Even though both Madden NFL and Borderlands 2 done well this was not enough to counteract the recent slide in video game sales.

With fewer consumers intent on buying consoles of late there is a gap for the Nintendo Wii U to try and reverse that trend in November, and the great October titles are also expected to make up some lost ground. In relation to the upcoming DLC the Mechromancer character class was also scheduled for the same day, but it seems to have been released a couple of days ago when we wrote about the DLC download eagerness that is being witnessed from gearbox.

With their focus solely on downloadable content, the idea of Borderlands 3 is not being entertained just yet, so they probably feel there is so much to offer with DLC for the time being, they are not wasting anytime getting this content out to the fans as soon as they can. What other features would you like to see as downloadable content for Borderlands 2?
