New Rayman Origins 2 evidence, 2013 release

Those of you who enjoyed following Rayman, his friend Globox and two teensies will be pleased to know that he will be back again sometime soon as evidence of Rayman Origins 2 gathers, a 2013 release could be on the cards. Rayman Origins came out on consoles last November and proceeded to release on other platforms throughout this year, although there has already been news of a type of sequel being released on the Wii U early next year.

Prior to this there was no indication that an actual sequel of Rayman Origins was in development, and a list in of this has been found on the website of a Swiss retailer that alleges a direct sequel will be available on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox in 2013. Reporting this news, Video Gamer mention a title planned in relation to building on the existing Rayman Origins, but this is known as Rayman Legends for the Wii U, so we are interested whether there will be another direct sequel.

Apparently Rayman Legends was due to launch alongside Wii U this November, yet this seems to have been delayed allowing more time to develop a title that can match up the standards of the fans. NintendoLife explain more on reasons why Rayman Origins was in the works for the Wii U, but Ubisoft were forecasting an earlier release of the console, so they scrapped the development when they realized the Wii U was not coming out in 2011. Rayman creator Michel Ancel comments on how once they knew the console wasn’t going to be released at that time, they started work on an exclusive called Rayman Legends.

Do you think the Wii U console should have come out last year? Maybe the idea of an exclusive Rayman game for Nintendo’s upcoming console could be another healthy addition to complement the Wii U features.
