Need for Halo 4 expressed in 2012 Holiday Season chart

As plenty of excitement surrounds the latest game releases with some top titles expected to launch over the next month or two, it is a good idea to get a feel for what is highly anticipated in the run up to Christmas. We get the impression the Xbox 360 exclusive Halo 4 will be somewhere up the top of the list for the Microsoft console, but we expect Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 to feature highly for both PS3 and Xbox.

A list according to the Nielsen Game Rank for Q4 2012 shows that Halo 4 is at the top as far as Xbox gamers are concerned with Black Ops 2 in second place, although there isn’t much in it, about 0.25% to be precise. The list compiled on Nielsen Wire.com also shows that at the top of the PlayStation 3 charts Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is leading the pack, giving us the impression this title is the most popular over the two consoles, although Assassin’s Creed 3 is second and third on the PS3 and Xbox list respectively.

Other titles that are in a high position for both are Resident Evil 6, Need For Speed: Most Wanted and NBA 2K13 although we expected the likes of WWE ’13 to be in a higher position on both charts as Medal of Honor: Warfighter has toppled the wrestling game for Xbox users. By looking at the list for the Wii, Just Dance 4 is at the number one spot followed by Zumba Fitness Core, LEGO The Lord of the Rings, Just Dance: Disney Party and Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.

As well as Halo 4, the only other first-party exclusive title for the Xbox is Fable: The Journey at number ten, while PS3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet Karting also holds the same position where the Sony console is concerned. It has been noted that Dishonored has not featured and we can only envisage this was not highly publicized during the period that these figures were gathered from September 9 to October 6, 2012. the list was conducted through online surveys of over 4,800 gamers both male and female between the ages of 7 to 54.

In other Xbox news, yesterday we informed our readers of the dashboard update going live for some, and reaching the rest over the week. We also spoke about the previous update known as Metro that was not welcomed by all and this was mainly down to the quality of video playback. Going back to the original source, what other games do you feel should have made the list?
