Halo 4 losing to Black Ops 2 on pre-orders, fans react
With two of the most highly anticipated titles expected before Christmas over one million pre-orders have been registered for both Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 with the latter winning by just a small margin. As we look at what the fans think of this news, it is wise to remember that the new Call of Duty title will be available on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems, along with the PC and the new upcoming Wii U console.
Halo 4 is sitting at the top of the Xbox charts with Black Ops 2 a close second place, and a comfortable first on the PS3 charts, so even though Halo 4 is an Xbox exclusive we can tell that the franchise remains popular among gamers. Highlighting the USA pre-order charts for the week of October, 20th Only SP mention how Black Ops 2 is in front by about 100,000 reserved copies, and we are sure this will change over the next few weeks. It seems like this is not the first time the two franchises have gone head to head to we are intrigued to know what the general consensus is concerning this years top titles.
When you take the figures into consideration both games are producing great numbers and as far as exclusives go Halo 4 looks set to be one of the best to come out for quite sometime. The competition and current pre-order sales are a good sign for the industry, and the Call of Duty fanbase on both consoles give us reason to believe Halo 4 is holding its own. In other Black Ops 2 news, our most recent article spoke about the game coming to the Nintendo 3DS according to rumors that have been doing the rounds for a while now. We thought the idea of this happening seemed a bit far-fetched although a UK retailer’s website has recently listed this to be released at the same time as the other platforms.
As we take this news with pinch of salt, we are sure this would have been highly publicized by now, and nothing has come from Activision to confirm this, although we can probably see a side-game like Black Ops: Declassified on the Vita making an appearance on the 3DS. To keep things on an even keel, in another recent post we highlighted comments by 343 Industries encouraging caution against Halo 4 spoilers, as the internet is full of details about the game, and this is due to the recently leaked pre-release copies that have become available.

Your point is well taken but I beleive that they can absolutely be compared. The genre is different but the major question in comparing COD and halo is if you like sci-fi or more realism. I for one perfer halo all the way

I dont understand why so many people wanna hate on CoD, Oh yeah maybe its bc most people wanna be all mainstream. I for one love CoD, it is and will always be one of my favorite titles, If you dont like CoD, then dont play it, you dont have to b***h and complain about it, Im not saying that Halo sucks bc I love halo as well, i have played every one and they always kept me on the edge of my seat with excitement, CoD will always sell more than halo but only bc it is a multiplatform game and more people play it. CoD to me is a interesting game series to me. I loved the very first CoD game I played, CoD 2. Also with MW1, MW2 and even Black Ops over time. But when I heard the gameplay and/or storyline was the same in MW3, I knew I wasn't going to get it. So thats how I feel about Black Ops 2. Also I don't like the building fan base for little kids that like saying fu*k every two minutes when I kill them 4 times. BUT with Halo 1 and 2, it was a child's dream to stay up and play Halo intill you passed out on your couch and now most of those kids are now older. I grown with the Halo series from when I was younger to now and I STILL play Halo 3, ODSD and of course Reach in campaign and multiplayer. I think both games are great but i go for halo because chief is back and black op2 has the same feeling when you play and its has dumb story line and dumb multiplayer the only cool part cod is the zombies and halo has spartan op better than firefight more playist better guns better story line and much more and cod gun sound the same that is dumb.
They both are gonna suck, COD of course always fun, but it'll be exactly the same thing. On the other hand, 343 changed everything about Halo to where now Halo is a beefed up Call of Duty. The simplicity of halo multiplayer with the strategy and a skill made it what it is today. Now we have two games that are about identical online, it's just that one's wearing a high tech suit. ....Am excited for campaign though.

Flava, I agree with you dude, they said MW3 would be an improvement, when its clearly not. Halo is okay, but its on its 6th game in the series if you count Halo wars. Games that reach their 4 or 5 game need to stop making them because no matter how many times someone says its newer or better, its still the same game. I don't even play Halo anymore because I dont support Microsoft, Xbox and their Marketing schemes.
i think that cod and halo both go hand and hand cod is good for multiplayer but i only play the camapin onece on easy as for halo the multiplayer is crap but i love the campain and allways beat it on legendary and i do like the forge part of halo it makes it more fun to play with freinds so in my opinon they both have their ups and downs it is like yin and yang they balance each other out p.s i pre-ordered them both but i got halo 4 limited edition p.s.s halo 4 will be awwsssooommmeee

Call of duty is the only Halo for PS3 owners have...wait never mind no one owns a PS3 so that cant be a factor. Practically I don't care if Black ops is selling more per-orders, that simply means that there will be less useless teammates in Halo 4. They will be busy playing Call of Duty:2012 instead everyone wins.

Halo has Always been Completely different. Starting with the adventureous feeling of an open and expansive world. Every game the deep, meeningfull story gets even deeper. Although in CoD, the story has 2 completely different branches and, frankly, is lacking every element of a "begining , middle, and end." there is no Flood in reach, by the way. In in Halo 2 and 3, you dont realy SAVE anything. Wich is what makes the story beautiful. The inevitable destruction of the chief, earth, the entire GALAXY. if cod had anywere near the expanse of meaning halo did, i would probably love it. And dont get me wrong, i enjoy Cod, but i preordered the halo 4 lim. edit. console, and not CoD BO 2.

I think the halo reach sytem was crap and destroyed the halo series and as much i am aware the new halo 4 rank system is pretty bad the best rank system by far was halo 3 . Cod is gonna have a better campaign from halo 4 but in the multiplayer i think halo 4 is way better cause its more fun and more things to do in a battle in cod is all about speed and having the right weapons well in halo 4 u will need to have to put strategy a lot and change of plans.

See I thought that the ranking system was "Eh." in Reach but it was entertaining getting the new body armor, I have to say instead of beating campaign like in Halo 3 and ODST. He has his our opinion though so its whatever we'll find out if Halo 4 will be up to the hype but I had a friend that burned a copy and said the campaign was awesome so thats one thing I can assure on.

i agree with you. even though i am totally cod over halo i see your point. it sucks for the normal gamers who just want to play with no little 8 year olds. idk why their parents let them get the game in the first place. It is a problem that people cheat, but it does happen in every game, more so in cod, but it mostly every game. hopefully BOII will take care of those ignorant people.

Games like Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, only wish they could have the in depth quality of Halo, Battlefield, The Elder Scrolls, and Diablo/Starcraft. CoD is the same game then by your logic, shooting the same generic enemies over and over. That's because the ELDER SCROLLS GAMES are actually an improvement everytime they come out with a new one. There is literally thousands of hours you could sit and play an Elder Scrolls , the Game. I get sick of the same noob tubing, the camping, the glitching, the screaming kids. SlowMike here is obviously simple minded and can't grasp the complex themes that the Elder Scrolls carry. Maybe instead of bashing other people and their opinions, you could actually give some contructive criticism.
Hmm...if someone truly thinks Oblivion is a step up from Morrowind, then they either haven't played both games, or they are deluding themselves for an argument asset. Don't get me wrong, I love the Elder Scrolls series, and it's no exaggeration stating I've put well over a thousand hours of play time into each, as many fans have. I also realize that each person has their own opinion, but this seems to go beyond that. Apart from perhaps the combat (perhaps, because many do prefer the "dice roll" combat), Morrowind is simply better in every way. Choices actually matter, much more than Oblivion or Skyrim. Leveling makes sense. The spell selection is MUCH better, including flying being an option. There just seemed to be a larger selection of characters that could be created because of all of the meaningful options. Want to be a ninja? Enjoy your throwing stars and katanas. How about a pike-lizard? Grab your halberd, trident, or other poking device, and be sure to thrust with it instead of swiping. It immersed you into the world and its story because nothing was off-limits. The story itself, and life of your character, was shaped by what you chose to do. You're in the Fighters Guild AND the Thieves Guild? Not for long, once someone finds out, and enjoy your permanent ban from one of them. Ahh, you chose a "house" to call your family? Now the other houses hate you and there are some serious quest options that have changed. So, you're a vampire...now what? Well, which of the 3 vampire clans bit you? It matters, especially with their own internal war and questlines to match. Oh no, you killed an "important" character? Your world is now "doomed", with no possibility of being saved, because your choice holds real consequences; it actually matters in this one. Sure, Morrowind was much more complex than IV and V, but that added to the depth and longevity. It's world was also a bit smaller than Oblivion's and Skyrim's, (though all three of those games could fit thousands of times into the massiveness that was Daggerfall. No game even comes close to the land size of that game!) Every single place was hand-crafted in Morrowind, however, and it was plenty big enough, and AMAZING to explore. Exploring also yielded some incredible rewards! Did you hear a rumor of an "end-game" axe? Go ahead and find it at the beginning of the game and enjoy its full potential, without worrying about which level to acquire it due to level scaling. You may have a tough time, however, because enemies don't "scale" to your current level either. In fact, try plundering the depths of any cavern and some of them will eat you alive. Try your hand at swimming, and be ambushed by some of the scariest situations this side of cliff racers. Oh, and don't get me started on cliff racers. However, it's worth your while, as the treasure can be VERY good, indeed. No 4 septims and 3 bottles of wine as your treasure chest reward here. Ok, so I'm done with my rant here. To state something on-topic, I prefer Halo, but I DID like CoD, right up until it got "Activisioned", and Infinity Ward is no longer the real Infinity Ward.(the original makers of CoD got booted after MW2 so that Activision could maintain maximum profitability). I have a serious problem with how Activision handled that, and am totally against their products now. tl;dr: 1) Morrowind is better than Oblivion in every possible way, save perhaps combat, 2) I prefer Halo to CoD, though I DID like both until Infinity Ward got Activisioned 3) Activision sucks
