Halo 4 losing to Black Ops 2 on pre-orders, fans react
With two of the most highly anticipated titles expected before Christmas over one million pre-orders have been registered for both Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 with the latter winning by just a small margin. As we look at what the fans think of this news, it is wise to remember that the new Call of Duty title will be available on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems, along with the PC and the new upcoming Wii U console.
Halo 4 is sitting at the top of the Xbox charts with Black Ops 2 a close second place, and a comfortable first on the PS3 charts, so even though Halo 4 is an Xbox exclusive we can tell that the franchise remains popular among gamers. Highlighting the USA pre-order charts for the week of October, 20th Only SP mention how Black Ops 2 is in front by about 100,000 reserved copies, and we are sure this will change over the next few weeks. It seems like this is not the first time the two franchises have gone head to head to we are intrigued to know what the general consensus is concerning this years top titles.
When you take the figures into consideration both games are producing great numbers and as far as exclusives go Halo 4 looks set to be one of the best to come out for quite sometime. The competition and current pre-order sales are a good sign for the industry, and the Call of Duty fanbase on both consoles give us reason to believe Halo 4 is holding its own. In other Black Ops 2 news, our most recent article spoke about the game coming to the Nintendo 3DS according to rumors that have been doing the rounds for a while now. We thought the idea of this happening seemed a bit far-fetched although a UK retailer’s website has recently listed this to be released at the same time as the other platforms.
As we take this news with pinch of salt, we are sure this would have been highly publicized by now, and nothing has come from Activision to confirm this, although we can probably see a side-game like Black Ops: Declassified on the Vita making an appearance on the 3DS. To keep things on an even keel, in another recent post we highlighted comments by 343 Industries encouraging caution against Halo 4 spoilers, as the internet is full of details about the game, and this is due to the recently leaked pre-release copies that have become available.
Those not wanting spoilers to ruin their enjoyment are recommended to stay away from various sites and forums for their own benefit. What’s your view of the pre-order chart figures? Do you feel Halo 4 is going to be decent competition for the popular multiplatform Black Ops 2?

the only reason i dont like cod is its not challenging enough at all the players on the game are terrible
These comments are outnumbered by halo fanboys! Some really valid points are made but the fanboys just won't stop downvoting anything that doesn't say “Halo and Microsoft rules”
.... halo is ONLY for xbox. i mean duh its natural for COD to out sell. it has 4 platforms to support it. Plus comparing COD with halo is wrong. even though both are fps, but they are very different in genre its like comparing Mass effect 3 with The walking dead game (yes you compare them by [the games] allowing players to make choices in the game, just like how you would some people compare the ability to shoot guns in both halo and COD) . and then retarded people will say mass effect 3 is better because they have more weapons. Please, they are so different and they target different audience and genres.
Your point is well taken but I beleive that they can absolutely be compared. The genre is different but the major question in comparing COD and halo is if you like sci-fi or more realism. I for one perfer halo all the way
Instead of hating on two equally awesome games, lets go commando pro with some beam swords on them hackers and campers
I dont understand why so many people wanna hate on CoD, Oh yeah maybe its bc most people wanna be all mainstream. I for one love CoD, it is and will always be one of my favorite titles, If you dont like CoD, then dont play it, you dont have to b***h and complain about it, Im not saying that Halo sucks bc I love halo as well, i have played every one and they always kept me on the edge of my seat with excitement, CoD will always sell more than halo but only bc it is a multiplatform game and more people play it. Yes I agree that CoD has had some bad titles but that doesent mean that every single CoD Game Sucks, the reason they havent completly changed the game is bc there is nothing wrong with the way it is, we all love running around shooting people and we dont want them to change it completely bc then we will have to get used to it all over again, Im just trying to say that everyone needs to quit hating and get over the fact that you suck at CoD. (Not All Of You) but most of you.
CoD to me is a interesting game series to me. I loved the very first CoD game I played, CoD 2. Also with MW1, MW2 and even Black Ops over time. But when I heard the gameplay and/or storyline was the same in MW3, I knew I wasn't going to get it. So thats how I feel about Black Ops 2. Also I don't like the building fan base for little kids that like saying fu*k every two minutes when I kill them 4 times. BUT with Halo 1 and 2, it was a child's dream to stay up and play Halo intill you passed out on your couch and now most of those kids are now older. I grown with the Halo series from when I was younger to now and I STILL play Halo 3, ODSD and of course Reach in campaign and multiplayer. So personally I have more pros then cons with Halo then with CoD but we are all gamers so we should play like gamers and shut up. :) Twitter: @MakeMeAGamer Email: Gamesthatmakemeagamer@yahoo.com
I think both games are great but i go for halo because chief is back and black op2 has the same feeling when you play and its has dumb story line and dumb multiplayer the only cool part cod is the zombies and halo has spartan op better than firefight more playist better guns better story line and much more and cod gun sound the same that is dumb.
They both are gonna suck, COD of course always fun, but it'll be exactly the same thing. On the other hand, 343 changed everything about Halo to where now Halo is a beefed up Call of Duty. The simplicity of halo multiplayer with the strategy and a skill made it what it is today. Now we have two games that are about identical online, it's just that one's wearing a high tech suit. ....Am excited for campaign though.
i strongly disagree with you dude. your the typical person saying duty will be the same but doesnt check out the changes they put into BOII. and dude you said they both gonna suck but only bash cod. said nothing about Halo being bad
Flava, I agree with you dude, they said MW3 would be an improvement, when its clearly not. Halo is okay, but its on its 6th game in the series if you count Halo wars. Games that reach their 4 or 5 game need to stop making them because no matter how many times someone says its newer or better, its still the same game. I don't even play Halo anymore because I dont support Microsoft, Xbox and their Marketing schemes.
i think that cod and halo both go hand and hand cod is good for multiplayer but i only play the camapin onece on easy as for halo the multiplayer is crap but i love the campain and allways beat it on legendary and i do like the forge part of halo it makes it more fun to play with freinds so in my opinon they both have their ups and downs it is like yin and yang they balance each other out p.s i pre-ordered them both but i got halo 4 limited edition p.s.s halo 4 will be awwsssooommmeee
I wish these s**** articles would stop being posted about two diffrent video games and two diffrent community's trying to spark a reaction from both over a measly diffrence in PRE-ORDERS F****** PRE-ORDERS seriously who the f*** cares at the end of the day i just want my f****** game i chose under the genre and title i like, comon seriously these sites wan't the internet traffic and your giving it to them arguing about WHO'S GOT THE MOST F****** PRE-ORDERS!!!, Lame Much -_-
Call of duty is the only Halo for PS3 owners have...wait never mind no one owns a PS3 so that cant be a factor. Practically I don't care if Black ops is selling more per-orders, that simply means that there will be less useless teammates in Halo 4. They will be busy playing Call of Duty:2012 instead everyone wins.
So by your logic no one owns a ps3, so half of the pre-orders for black ops 2 are being pre-ordered for something that no one has? You sir are an idiot, CoD is nothing like Halo, so ps3s halo type game isn't CoD. You obviously have never played a ps3
He was being sarcastic dumbshit. He knows people own ps3s. And stop with that "by that logic" horseshit.
Halo has Always been Completely different. Starting with the adventureous feeling of an open and expansive world. Every game the deep, meeningfull story gets even deeper. Although in CoD, the story has 2 completely different branches and, frankly, is lacking every element of a "begining , middle, and end." there is no Flood in reach, by the way. In in Halo 2 and 3, you dont realy SAVE anything. Wich is what makes the story beautiful. The inevitable destruction of the chief, earth, the entire GALAXY. if cod had anywere near the expanse of meaning halo did, i would probably love it. And dont get me wrong, i enjoy Cod, but i preordered the halo 4 lim. edit. console, and not CoD BO 2.
I think the halo reach sytem was crap and destroyed the halo series and as much i am aware the new halo 4 rank system is pretty bad the best rank system by far was halo 3 . Cod is gonna have a better campaign from halo 4 but in the multiplayer i think halo 4 is way better cause its more fun and more things to do in a battle in cod is all about speed and having the right weapons well in halo 4 u will need to have to put strategy a lot and change of plans.
What!? U don't know how halo 4 ranking system will be. Did u really say cod campaign will be better than halo 4. That's rediculous. I have all halo and all cod games. I like cod and halo multiplayer but I have not finished a single cod campaign. Halo has the best cannon and campaign in any fps game. That's an insult to anyone who plays games to say cod has a better campaign.
you should finish a cod campaign.MW2, big red one, are the best Ive beaten halos to and theyre amazing, but i have no doubt bo2 will be even better.
*ridiculous *you how *THE halo 4 ranking system will be. I have all *THE halo games. multiplayer, <--comma but I have . . . Clearly you are a kid who needs to finish grammar before you claim anything. Your grammar is an insult to the human race.
See I thought that the ranking system was "Eh." in Reach but it was entertaining getting the new body armor, I have to say instead of beating campaign like in Halo 3 and ODST. He has his our opinion though so its whatever we'll find out if Halo 4 will be up to the hype but I had a friend that burned a copy and said the campaign was awesome so thats one thing I can assure on.
IMPOSSIBLE FOR HALO very likely for COD whatever good-for-a-four-year-old story they create, mostly all COD players will say "BEST GAME EVER!" -_-' THAT IS WHY I HATE COD BECAUSE OF ALL THE PEOPLE WHO JUST PLAY THE EASIEST GAME EVER AND EXPLOIT OVER OBVIOUSLY TROUBLED TEENAGERS OR CHILDREN!
Why are people suprised by this of course CoD will sell more, also if they are planning the release of CoD on other systems they KNOW its time is at an end now. Halo has more support from the Devs, it involves its community more and thats just what we Halo players like. My problem with CoD is the players that exploit the game or cheat thier arse off then proclaim they are beast, they are not. You can change the game but not the players and CoD attracts the most idiotic people in the world, enough to put me off
theyve always released on ds/3ds, so its not like theyre failing, mw3 was NOT good. Black ops 2 is going to be the best Call of Duty since call of duty 2
i agree with you. even though i am totally cod over halo i see your point. it sucks for the normal gamers who just want to play with no little 8 year olds. idk why their parents let them get the game in the first place. It is a problem that people cheat, but it does happen in every game, more so in cod, but it mostly every game. hopefully BOII will take care of those ignorant people.
Both are retarded. Software companies need to make New and interesting games, not the same old RECYCLED crap. "OH the graphics are better" No. They're just repolished and packaged. I would rather have one gigantic monopolized company that makes one amazing console. Why? Because we'll have more serious gamers, and less whiny screaming little brats on Cod asking their parents for a 1000$ console.
Go back to your basement you pathetic troll. Though I agree with your COD comment, Halo has never been and will never be "repolished" or "repackaged" (besides CEA) If you have played one, you would understand that Halo has always been the only long running series that hasn't completely deteriorated when it comes to quality. Games like Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, only wish they could have the in depth quality of Halo, Battlefield, The Elder Scrolls, and Diablo/Starcraft. Do some research before you start talking nonsense.
Why don't you go suck on that Microsoft Wang some more. Id rather play Oblivion and Halo 1 on PC 1000 times over before I ever touch a crappy Halo game. Cod, MpH, and Halo need to die. We need a New kind of game that has better immersing elements.
Halo has changed a lot since its first installment. You are crazy if you think Halo is recycled every installment. No matter how much a system cost, there will always be screaming and whining brats playing online...frankly one of them seems to be you. If that's the case, every game is recycled from another game including oblivion jackass. Why would companies only want serious gamers and turn down casual gamers? They would lose tons of profit, and just to suite your whining needs? Lmao complain some more.
Halo 2,3, and Reach are all the same. You always fight the flood, youre pretty much always the only guy to save the day from a massive destruction.of a planet.
You don't fight the flood nor successfully save the planet in Reach. Hell, the planet Reach got mostly glassed/destroyed. Can't argue for 2 and 3 though.
CoD is the same game then by your logic, shooting the same generic enemies over and over. Take cover, shoot, take cover, shoot (here, we have convienantly placed 4 enemies togethet for you to throw a grenade, bet you feel like a badass), cover, shoot. Boring, theres a reason the further gaming moves from reality it becomes better. Everyone should look at PS1 games, the early games give you that futuristic (im in another world) feeling It seems to have died, replaced by crap war games
Buddy, you have zero idea what you're talking about. From a game design perspective, even Halo 2 and 3 are very different. By your estimation, everything that has a sequel is terrible and stupid. You're just one of these pathetic morons going around spewing hatred about things you don't understand.
No planet gets saved in either game. Most of planet earth was glassed and billions of humans died. Yeah you fought the flood in halo 2 and 3 but that's part of story. If you actually played the games you would know that. Also moMike you sound like Brother in law shut the hell up. You dont know anything. halo has never been recycled. There is always something that changes or is completely different and that's including the the engine you twit. Now go and troll somewhere else. Noob
This dude moMike says he wants new games, not later ones in the same series, then goes on to say he'd rather play Oblivion. The FOURTH game in the numbered Elder Scrolls series. He also thinks that a monopoly making games would be better than having competition, but fails to realize that competition brings improvement to price, availability, and quality of goods and services. A company wouldn't be very motivated to innovate or change much if there was nothing to take away their profits, and would be more likely to release games with very minor improvements year after year, something moMike says he doesn't want. In other words, moMike has lower than average reasoning capability, sub-par critical thinking skills, bad business sense, and a terrible grasp of how the real world works.
and what exactly is COD? you do the same thing over and over and over in EVERY single game I mean in you make assumptions based on what others have told you, for instance, in halo reach you DO NOT at any point fight the flood and this time you are with a team and same goes for halo 3, the flood is only there in the last two missions, please tell me that COD isn't a game bases on first see, first kill?
That's because the ELDER SCROLLS GAMES are actually an improvement everytime they come out with a new one. There is literally thousands of hours you could sit and play an Elder Scrolls , the Game. I get sick of the same noob tubing, the camping, the glitching, the screaming kids. SlowMike here is obviously simple minded and can't grasp the complex themes that the Elder Scrolls carry. Maybe instead of bashing other people and their opinions, you could actually give some contructive criticism.
Hmm...if someone truly thinks Oblivion is a step up from Morrowind, then they either haven't played both games, or they are deluding themselves for an argument asset. Don't get me wrong, I love the Elder Scrolls series, and it's no exaggeration stating I've put well over a thousand hours of play time into each, as many fans have. I also realize that each person has their own opinion, but this seems to go beyond that. Apart from perhaps the combat (perhaps, because many do prefer the "dice roll" combat), Morrowind is simply better in every way. Choices actually matter, much more than Oblivion or Skyrim. Leveling makes sense. The spell selection is MUCH better, including flying being an option. There just seemed to be a larger selection of characters that could be created because of all of the meaningful options. Want to be a ninja? Enjoy your throwing stars and katanas. How about a pike-lizard? Grab your halberd, trident, or other poking device, and be sure to thrust with it instead of swiping. It immersed you into the world and its story because nothing was off-limits. The story itself, and life of your character, was shaped by what you chose to do. You're in the Fighters Guild AND the Thieves Guild? Not for long, once someone finds out, and enjoy your permanent ban from one of them. Ahh, you chose a "house" to call your family? Now the other houses hate you and there are some serious quest options that have changed. So, you're a vampire...now what? Well, which of the 3 vampire clans bit you? It matters, especially with their own internal war and questlines to match. Oh no, you killed an "important" character? Your world is now "doomed", with no possibility of being saved, because your choice holds real consequences; it actually matters in this one. Sure, Morrowind was much more complex than IV and V, but that added to the depth and longevity. It's world was also a bit smaller than Oblivion's and Skyrim's, (though all three of those games could fit thousands of times into the massiveness that was Daggerfall. No game even comes close to the land size of that game!) Every single place was hand-crafted in Morrowind, however, and it was plenty big enough, and AMAZING to explore. Exploring also yielded some incredible rewards! Did you hear a rumor of an "end-game" axe? Go ahead and find it at the beginning of the game and enjoy its full potential, without worrying about which level to acquire it due to level scaling. You may have a tough time, however, because enemies don't "scale" to your current level either. In fact, try plundering the depths of any cavern and some of them will eat you alive. Try your hand at swimming, and be ambushed by some of the scariest situations this side of cliff racers. Oh, and don't get me started on cliff racers. However, it's worth your while, as the treasure can be VERY good, indeed. No 4 septims and 3 bottles of wine as your treasure chest reward here. Ok, so I'm done with my rant here. To state something on-topic, I prefer Halo, but I DID like CoD, right up until it got "Activisioned", and Infinity Ward is no longer the real Infinity Ward.(the original makers of CoD got booted after MW2 so that Activision could maintain maximum profitability). I have a serious problem with how Activision handled that, and am totally against their products now. tl;dr: 1) Morrowind is better than Oblivion in every possible way, save perhaps combat, 2) I prefer Halo to CoD, though I DID like both until Infinity Ward got Activisioned 3) Activision sucks
