XCOM: Enemy Unknown new maps in DLC release
Fans of XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be pleased to know that some new maps are on the cards with an upcoming DLC release. The turn-based game has been well received with some high scores in reviews, and news of new maps will add to the great experience, as XCOM is expected to get two add-on content packs in the near future, yet some of you may have one of these already.
The new DLC is known as the Slingshot Content Pack and contains new Council missions that involve players meeting a Triad operative and diverting an alien ship’s course. In an article on CVG, they talk about the upcoming content along with the opportunity to get hold of the Elite Solider Pack, which was initially accessible for those who pre-ordered the game. It will now be available to buy on the Xbox, PS3 and PC and the price given for the 360 is AU$7.75 or your currency equivalent or 400 Microsoft Points.
This content provides a new recruit based on a character from the original game and extensive customization options. With the Slingshot Content Pack, three new maps will be featured, although no official price or release date has been divulged, yet. In other XCOM news, Game Trailers.com highlights the chance to unlock a hidden difficulty on the PC version through a mod. The Second Wave as it’s known is basically a New Game Plus designed for those who have completed the game and require more of a challenge, and they list the features on their site.

We are intrigued to know if mod that unlocks these would eventually end up as an official feature for consoles, and we understand that Firaxis have been contacted about this, although we are still waiting to hear any news of this. A couple of weeks ago we spoke about XCOM: Enemy Unknown PC errors and a list of fixes were highlighted to address many issues that gamers are experiencing. Going back to the original source, we are interested to know if you prefer on-disc DLC?
