Windows 8 games download to swell for Christmas 2012

With both Windows 8 and Microsoft Surface now available for purchase it’s worth noting that the games that you can currently download for W8 are limited because you cannot get 18-rated games on their. However, all that will change soon and Windows 8 games on the Store will swell in the build up to Christmas 2012.

It seems that Microsoft has decided to do a U-turn on their decision to not sell 18-rated games – maybe they realized that it was a stupid decision to make and limited their digital gaming potential? However, they have since stated that limiting gamers in this way was simply down to a mix-up with the ratings policy.

If Microsoft had not had changed this policy then you would not have been able to download games such as Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Max Payne 3 and Dishonored for Windows 8. While these titles are still not available to download for Windows 8, we’re told that they should be during December, which as you can see is just in time for the Holiday Season – perfect timing we might add. Just to be clear, you’ll still be able to play these games now, but only if you purchase a physical copy instead.

There are still restrictions to what games will still be allowed on the new Windows Store, because while you cannot download a game that has sex scenes in them, you can if they have people killing each other or ripping internal organs out – seems a bit strange when you look at it like that.

This update for the Windows 8 Store was needed if they were to be in line with Steam and Origin. While it’s early days for Windows 8 the new Operating System seems to be getting a mixed reaction; some people have been saying how great it has been while using the beta version for months, while others have stated that they would rather get a new laptop or PC quickly before they’re all updated to W8.
