Ragnarok Odyssey review confusion, tedious yet engaging

By looking at some recent reviews of Ragnarok Odyssey mixed feelings come to mind as the repetitive side of the game can be rather tedious, although overall this title is said to have some engaging qualities. Therefore, in our brief run through some opinions we can see that the scores given show confusion about the overall outcome.

Some gamers may feel that this is a Monster Hunter-like idea that goes down hill with constant repeats of the same old missions to obtain rare material, and the monster is not held in high regard either. Ragnarok Odyssey is a PS Vita game that IGN were really looking forward to, yet when you measure up all the bad points, this is not the title they expected, even though it does start off as a fun experience. Apparently, Ragnarok Odyssey turns into a tedious loop of repetitiveness that doesn’t seem to go anywhere, which is a shame for Vita owners who deserve more than a half-baked RPG that lacks style and substance.

Those who want customization will only find a taster here, and along with menus that do not make sense there is a duty to deliver an engaging story, which is also lacking with Ragnarok Odyssey. Giving a mediocre score of 5.0 this is not highly recommended by IGN. Just Push Start on the other hand enjoyed this title finding the gameplay to be addictive and the customization is fairly deep, and their site Score of 8.6 showed this, although their first impression was that this is just another mindless hack and slash title.

When it comes to the bad points about the game, they feel that farming for materials can be tedious and the Dainsleif mode could be better, along with the multiplayer. Hardcore Gamer.com have more in the way of compliments and feel Ragnarok Odyssey is the best action RPG that they have experienced for a while, viewing it as visually stunning with a plenty of depth. Enjoyment was found in the battles and this is held in a higher regard to similar titles such as Phantasy Star Online and Monster Hunter, although those who love action RPGs will find this an engaging experience, awarding Ragnarok Odyssey with an impressive 4 out of 5.

It seems that those who are fans of titles like PSO and Monster Hunter will find Ragnarok Odyssey an entertaining RPG. Does this type of game interest you? Maybe the reviews have left you in two minds whether to give Ragnarok Odyssey a go.
