Halo 4 confusion regarding campaign length

It seems that no matter how much is put into first person shooters nowadays the campaigns seem to be shrinking in the time it takes to play through them. With this in mind, there has been some confusion regarding the campaign length in Halo 4, although six hours is what is being suggested now, in comparison to seven that has previously been reported.

Varied times can be given for games like this, as many people like to play at their own pace without rushing through to see how quickly they can complete it. Some gamers like myself play at their leisure and spread out over a long period can extend the actual playing time, so we are concerned whether the time given is for normal players. In an article on Nowgamer they say the Halo 4 campaign is just over six hours long and another site recently mentioned seven, giving gamers reason to question if this will end up whittled down four or five over the next couple of days.

Commenting on the short campaign of Medal Of Honor: Warfighter there is a consensus that this is becoming a frequent occurrence among this type of game, and their experience of Halo 4 was done in about six hours and twenty minutes on the Heroic difficulty. While some gamers may say “good for you” they do point out that they just ploughed through the campaign without taking the time to track down Terminals or get involved in any challenges, so for someone like me there is plenty to be getting on with.

Nowgamer credit Halo 4 as a fantastic game with lots of replayabilty, especially with Spartan Ops, multiplayer and co-op, and they acknowledge there is a considerable amount of extra time to be found elsewhere in the game. Some gamers may appreciate the campaign, but are more concerned with the multiplayer experience, yet others demand more when it comes to playing solo, and this does not only apply to games like Halo and Medal Of Honor.

In other Halo 4 news, our most recent article spoke about how the review opinions differ slightly with some regarding the single-player campaign not as good as previous Halo titles, although many seem to agree with how decent the multiplayer elements are. When it comes to the single-player campaign in an FPS, what do you feel is an ideal length? Maybe you are under the impression that this is to be expected when the addition of a multiplayer is involved.
