GTA 5 anticipation in 2013 tip of the iceberg
With many fans sole expectation this year being focused on Grand Theft Auto V, it is worth mentioning that there are plenty of other games anticipated in 2013 and another that has gamers excited is The Last of Us. Towards the end of last year allsorts of GTA 5 news started to emerge, along with details, screenshots and another trailer of the upcoming game, so we can see how this title is featuring more prominently in people’s minds, but we are sure more great treats will be coming over the year 2013.
While many websites go over their favorite titles of 2012, we are more concerned with what we can look forward to, as this could be a defining year for the game industry with many titles already starting to show signs of the next generation. Looking at games confirmed over the next twelve months The Independent, also speculate on the release of titles such as Watch Dogs and Star Wars 1313 that could also fit into the 2013 bracket.
The Last of Us is expected on the PS3 around the 7th of May 2013 and this involves an apocalyptic world where those affected by an airborne fungus turn into flesh-eating zombies and even the survivors have become feral. From what we have seen and been told about the game the Last of Us promises to deliver one of the best games of the year, although less publicized titles like Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch may be just one of many to look forward to.
Ni no Kuni is said to be an interactive cartoon across two interlinked worlds and has already been available to Japan for over a year. This game is expected at the end of this month on both PS3 and Xbox 360, and Aliens: Colonial Marines is another scheduled for an early 2013 release, with the 12th of February being mentioned on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. Another title expected late February is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which will be one fans of the series will be looking forward to.
February the 26th should see the arrival of BioShock Infinite although there are suggestions this could be delayed for another month, so March may be more precise. BioShock Infinite is not exactly a sequel to the original BioShock, although we have heard plenty of good things about it. The Wii U will see the return of Pikmin in Pikmin 3, and after an absence of nearly nine years, we are interested to see if this game revives the franchise. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is expected on the 3DS in March, and Beyond: Two Souls on the PlayStation has no date yet, along with Tearaway on the PS Vita.
Grand Theft Auto 5 on the PS3, Xbox 360 may come nearer the summer and the three new protagonists look set to add more immersion to the series, so with all the latest revelations about the game, we can expect the hype surrounding this to gather even more momentum. Out of all the various elements of the game one part that has not been revealed is the radio station tracks and Product Reviews feel this aspect of the game could also improve the series in comparison to the previous titles.
While gamers search for the main artists on the radio stations, PR mentions one that could already be confirmed as DJ Kavinsky looks set to have his own station with commentary from the man himself, and those who have seen the second trailer may find that Stevie Wonder’s Skeletons may also be featuring within the game.
In the series of Grand Theft Auto titles fans have grown attached to the various genres of music involved giving plenty of choice for gamers to listen to, and I must admit to buying a CD of one or two of the stations when San Andreas first came out. Personally, being a big fan of most music I cant wait to see what else is on offer in GTA V, as music does add more atmosphere to games like this, although we are interested to know if recently released tracks will also feature, as well as lively anthems to keep gamers charged up, so no Coldplay please!
On Christmas Eve, we spoke about more reveals on the game that we were not expecting at the time and from the latest screenshots, we are sure that encounters with sharks may be part of the underwater scenarios along with the option to use submarines. Going back to the original source, what game(s) are you looking forward to the most this year? Moreover, can you think of others we may have missed out?
