Tomb Raider Podcast speculates PS4 announcement in months
This could be the first time you have heard anything about a multiplayer mode in the upcoming Tomb Raider game, but starting from yesterday, Podcast Beyond has started talking about the death of the PlayStation 2 as well as the “outrage” over Tomb Raider’s multiplayer and speculation surrounding an upcoming PS4 announcement.
The podcast itself can be seen through a link on IGN and one reader has picked up on news of an announcement for the PlayStation 4 coming in a couple of months. Although nothing official has been reported to back this up, some gamers will take this speculative suggestion and run with it. As far as the rumors go, Sony’s next gen console may not arrive for another year but the likes of Microsoft’s Xbox 720 could dictate how soon the PS4 system will release.
We are under the impression many gamers are not over keen on the idea of Tomb Raider’s multiplayer, although nobody is forcing anyone to play this, and until we all get the chance to experience this it is hard to conceive that gamers are in outrage about it. We can understand that many fans feel that developers focusing on the multiplayer may neglect the actual game, but we are hoping this shouldn’t affect single player aspect.
As far as the PS4 is concerned our most recent post spoke about two release possibilities as many reports point in the direction of next Christmas, while other feel this could be some six months later. This will mean over a year and a half before the next gen Sony console arrives, which is much longer than we expected. We are still unsure after looking at the lineup for the PS3 titles this year, as we currently only have game release dates for the next six months, giving us cause to query what is in store for the rest of the year.
Returning to the original topic, Gaming Everything highlights the first Tomb Raider multiplayer details as acquired from the latest issue of OXM. A brief description of what to expect is outlined with everything from Team Deathmatch, best of three matches, alternating between sides and other new modes are discussed, so expect an official update from Square Enix during CES 2013 next week. What are your views on Tomb Raider’s multiplayer? Alternatively, when do you feel the PS4 will be announced?
