The Last of Us reference possible PS4 release

The scheduled worldwide release of The Last of Us on the PS3 is set for June 14, 2013 and the upcoming survival horror action game developed by Naughty Dog highlights a date in one of the games screenshots. The date highlighted is October 17th 2013 and because ND has used titles in the past to hint at other upcoming ventures plenty of questions are being raised about what this could entail.

While we are unsure whether this could be the launch date of Sony’s next-gen console others may feel that this could be advertising a new Uncharted game or even something totally new altogether. With analysts, gamers and journalists predicting the PS4 will arrive around this time, the lion’s share of opinions point out this date as a possible tease for the next-gen system.

Prior to this screenshot being revealed reports have suggested the new console will be launching around October/ November time, although we are unsure if Naughty Dog would tease about the upcoming console when another game could be on the cards or maybe we are looking at a launch title which will complement the arrival of the PS4.

Highlighting the screenshot, PlayStation Universe mention hints regarding a reference to The Last of Us in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, in which players found a newspaper on the floor that showed a headline referring to the upcoming game. The paper’s headline said “Scientists Are Still Struggling To Understand Deadly Fungus,” which blatantly referred to the game in question.

The screenshot shows an evacuation notice board telling residents that they should leave the area at 8pm on the 10/17/13, so could this be the date for the PS4, Uncharted 4, DLC or something new from Naughty Dog? Do you think we are reading too much into this?
