WoW: Warlords of Draenor and Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls release expectations
The world of gaming looks set to be a big year in 2014 with the additions of new consoles, this upcoming period will be the first full year of next-gen titles. With that in mind, already established franchises could be expecting further expansions as we take a look at Blizzard Entertainment’ s World of Warcraft and Diablo 3 receiving possible expansions over 2014.
In addition, Pixel Gate questions whether 2014 could be a great year for Blizzard, as the company intend to bring out further expansions for both WoW and Diablo 3. According to their report, World of Warcraft could be receiving a new expansion called Warlords of Draenor as the company look to boost their dwindling subscription numbers.
While fans of WoW may feel Warlords of Draenor is more along the lines of a refinement of the game, rather than a major progression like past expansions, we are under the impression this will focus on time travel, which is not unfamiliar to fans of this game.
Fans can also expect quality of life additions, like a one-time character boost to level 90, along with guild garrison and new character models. The Warlord of Draenor expansion attempts to rejuvenate World of Warcraft and there is a high expectation this will push up the game’s subscription numbers, although we are unsure how long this will be for.
When it comes to another one of their big franchises an expansion for Diablo 3, titled Reaper of Souls could open up the limitations of the game, as some players may feel that Diablo 3 is still far from complete. With improvements made to the console version we could see plenty of PS3 gamers welcoming any new expansions for the game.
Hearthstone could be Blizzard’s surprise success in 2014 as this is a card-combat title, based on the Warcraft universe. This easy to learn game could attract plenty of newcomers to the genre and the option to customize a deck to suit individual play styles could be welcomed by many. Therefore, do you feel this coming year could be big for Blizzard Entertainment?
