Ant-Man Hank Pym part for Michael Douglas

If you are a fan of Marvel superheroes, you may be aware that a new superhero movie is on its was to the silver screen, Marvel’s Ant-Man, which is expected to be released in July 2015. Well we have some news on Ant-Man casting today, and that news is that Hollywood legend Michael Douglas has been signed to play the part of scientist Hank Pym.

The type of role Douglas will play apparently remains a bit of a mystery though because Hank Pym is a scientist that could alter his size, shrinking down to insect size or up to the mass of an elephant. However it appears that Paul Rudd will play the superhero part as Scott Lang, a character that in the comics was a crook that stole the Ant-Man tech, and later continued as the superhero with the blessing of Pym, according to a report by The Guardian.

President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige remarked on Douglas saying, “With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.”

Ant-Man exists in the same universe as superheroes Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk and Steve Rogers aka Captain America; however it isn’t expected that Paul Rudd will appear in the upcoming Avengers sequel called Age of Ultron, a film that reunites the superheroes of the 2012 smash hit.
