Awaiting Magic: The Gathering movie cast news

Magic: The Gathering was one of the first trading card games introduced in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast, and has accumulated around twelve million players as of 2011. With this card game being played using a deck of printed or virtual cards through the internet, we are not surprised that a film adaptation has been considered to complement this popular fantasy card game.

According to an article on the Hollywood Reporter, Fox Studios is set to bring Magic: The Gathering to the big screen with Simon Kinberg producing and overseeing the building of this universe. 20th Century Fox has closed a deal to acquire the screen rights to make a movie adaptation, and we could see this amounting in a massive franchise that may end up on the same scale as The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.

As far as we know the studio has enlisted Simon Kinberg to take over the development of the movie series, but stay in contact with Hasbro, the company behind the card game. Magic has a large amount of mystical beings including wizards and creatures, and weapons and spells are also a big part of the game, giving us reason to question why this was not made into a videogame first.

Are you intrigued to know how this popular card game will make the transition to the big screen? Maybe you already have an idea of specific cast members for certain roles.
