Man City eye up more silverware with FA Cup progression

When talk about some of the current giants in football names like Barcelona and Bayern Munich may feature highly on the radar this season, and although teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City are still not holding the top spot in their leagues they both look capable of winning their respected leagues. Man City are still on route with four targets on offer and last night’s demolition of Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup continues to show us this team means business.

Man City have been a big force since Mancini’s reign, but it seems new manager Manuel Pellegrini is confident this side can go even further, and recently mentioned that they hope to obtain every piece of silverware available to them.

We previously mentioned Real Madrid as their star performer Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo has shown football fans that he is the one to watch, but Man City is a team full of kind of talent we saw a few years back when it was all about the Galacticos. A review of last night’s action can be seen on the Sky Sports website along with fans comments on this FA Cup result and the upcoming fourth-round meeting with Watford.

The likes of Negredo, Dzeko and Aguero were all on target last night and these players would get into any top side around the world not to mention and extensive list of talent on the park and on the bench. This is a great time for Man City fans revelling in the form of their team that is currently streets ahead of their transitional rivals, and we are not surprised City has been tipped to win the league.

Last night’s return game against Blackburn Rovers allowed City to play at home and this is where they are a deadly team making the Etihad Stadium a worry for any side who travels there, giving us reason to believe 2014 could be the year they establish their power in the Champions League. While some may feel it is still a bit premature to expect them to win this, we feel this side is now the full package and any side playing them at their ground could go home embarrassed.

Manchester City made light work of Blackburn with a 5-0 victory at home, setting up a fourth-round tie with Watford, and we could see this Championship side also falling short against this emerging City side that has a number of different options in every position.

Last night’s game was said to lack the intensity of recent Premier League clashes and in the first half Blackburn held their own, much like their previous match when they held City to a draw at Ewood Park. Rovers fans can be proud of this, considering how many sides City have hammered this season.

Manuel Pellegrini is eyeing up all competitions this year and we cannot help feeling this side have just what it takes to achieve these goals. If you asked me five years ago whether Man City would be in this position I would have probably laughed, and so would many United fans, but there is a new giant on the block now and we are intrigued to know how much success this season holds for them.

Can you see Manchester City cleaning up this season? Or do you think the winning the Premiership and the Champions League may be a bit too presumptuous at the moment?
