24 movie news update following interview

If you are a fan of the hit show 24, then you will probably know that the show kicks off production again in the UK in a couple of weeks with 24: Live Another Day, which has Jack Bauer in exile in London. During promotion for the new 12-part series, it’s star Kiefer Sutherland has been chatting about the status of the 24 movie.

Sutherland, during the Fox portion of the TCA Press tour was asked whether the upcoming series story was initially earmarked for the 24 movie. However, Sutherland revealed, “The script for the film was very, very different,” and went on to reveal “the film is an ongoing situation. There’s always an opportunity to do that. Howard came up with an idea for a 12-episode run at this, and it was the opportunity that presented itself to us first.”

According to a report over on Collider, Sutherland also remarked, “It was a fantastic idea, and it’s something that we’re very excited about doing, and it’s something that we’re really primarily focused on.  So, if this ends up rebooting the show or causing a film to be made, so be it.  But right now, we’re very passionately focused on these 12 episodes right now.”

Concerning 24: Live Another Day, when asked the question, is it more ideal length to do a twelve-episode story, executive producer Howard Gordon remarked that doing good stuff you are proud of takes time, and the more time you got, the better you can make each episode, and that he has every expectation of maintaining the quality of 24.

So, it appears that if the new series of 24 ignites interest in Sutherland’s character Jack Bauer again, then perhaps a 24 movie just might follow in quick succession. Are any of our readers waiting for the 24 movie to appear?
