Ghostbusters 3 confirmed with Paul Feig at helm

For some considerable time there had been speculation on whether Ghostbusters 3 would actually happen, but it appears that the third Ghostbusters movie is coming, with Paul Feig sitting in the director’s chair.

Feig was previously linked to the Ghostbusters 3 project back at the beginning of August, and although at that time there had been no formal talks, it was rumoured that Paul Feig was Sony’s first choice for the project.

However, Feig has now confirmed that he will helm Ghostbusters 3, along with announcing that The Heat screenwriter Katie Dippold is aboard to co-writer the script.

Paul Feig confirmed his involvement with Ghostbusters 3 via his official Twitter account, where he tweeted… “It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.”

Thus not only has Paul Feig confirmed he is to co-write and direct Ghostbusters 3, he has also confirmed that the movie will feature female Ghostbusters, as previously rumoured.

So as the new movie will introduce new female Ghostbusters, it is unclear whether any of the original stars will show up in the new film, and of course there is no word on just which females might be cast. But at least fans now know Ghostbusters 3 is happening.
