2015 Oscars Lady Gaga performs 50th Anniversary Sound of Music tribute

The 87th Academy Awards also hailed the 50th Anniversary of the hit musical The Sound of Music, which stared Julie Andrews as singing nun Maria, and Christopher Plummer as Captain Von Trapp, the head of the Von Trapp family, which first saw release way back in 1965.

And to mark the 50th Anniversary of The Sound of Music, Lady Gaga took to the stage at the 2015 Oscars to perform a medley of classic hits from the famous movie, and just in case you missed that performance, we have embedded the video below for your viewing pleasure.

Quite different from what Lady Gaga fans usually get with her rather flamboyant performances, in contrast Lady Gaga’s The Sound of Music tribute was all about the voice, as she sang her way through the classics The Sound of Music, followed by My Favourite Things, Edelweiss, and Climb Every Mountain, although she doesn’t quite manage to hit that high note at the end.

Lady Gaga is backed by a full choir and string section during the performance that was a fitting tribute for the 50 years since The Sound of Music first hit cinema screens, and if for some reason you haven’t seen it, do so because it is a very good musical….enjoy the 2015 Oscars Lady Gaga Sound of Music Tribute.
