The Raid US remake loses its helm, studio and star

For quite some time there has been a US remake of Indonesian movie The Raid on the cards, but the remake has seen quite a few delays in the past; however if you were hoping to see The Raid US remake you might be out of luck because it looks like the remake in now on indefinite hold.

The latest word on the US remake of The Raid is that Expendables 3 director Patrick Hughes, who was to helm the remake has decided to walk away from the project, reports Joblo.

Whilst there is no word on why Hughes has walked away from The Raid remake, he wasn’t the only one to turn their back, as production company Studio Gems has also dropped the project, meaning the remake is now in solely in the hands of XYZ films.

Furthermore, the only two actors attached to The Raid remake were Taylor Kitsch and Frank Grillo, but Kitsch has also left the project. However, there is still one person still attached to the remake, the writer and director of the original Raid movies, Gareth Evans, who is exec producer on the project.

The above probably means that the US remake of The Raid will languish on hold for the foreseeable future whilst XYZ begins a search for someone to replace Hughes..more if or when we hear.
