Weekend Box Office Results: Spectre ousts The Martian


It was all change at the top of the US box office charts this weekend now that the latest 007 movie has hit cinema screens over in the USA. As expected Spectre grabbed hold of the number one spot, pushing The Martian off the top slot, by managing to pull in an impressive 73 million dollars.

There was also a change at the second slot with The Peanuts Movie taking second place by garnering 45 million, meaning The Martian was forced into third place after the sci-fi adventure took a further 9.3 million dollars, reports Cinema Blend.

Last weekend’s second slot holder Goosebumps was shoved down to fourth after the comedy adventure pulled in another 6.9 million, whilst Bridges of Spies was also down two places to fifth after taking a further 6 million dollars.


Animation sequel Hotel Transylvania 2 moved from fourth to sixth after pulling in another 3.5 million, and chef comedy Burnt was down from sixth to seventh after pulling in a further 3 million dollars.

Vin Diesel’s The Last Witch Hunter dropped three slots to land in eighth place after pulling in another 2.6 million. The Intern moved back into the top ten from eleventh to ninth after pulling in a further 1.8 million, and Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension dropped from seventh to tenth after drawing in another 1.6 million dollars.
