Veteran actor Saeed Jaffrey has passed away


Veteran actor Saeed Jaffrey and the star of Bollywood, International movies and British television, an actor who made over 200 screen appearances including 100 Bollywood films, sadly passed away on Sunday.

The news of Saeed Jaffrey’s passing was broke by his niece Shaheen Aggarwal on Facebook late Sunday night with Ms Aggarwal writing… “Today, a generation of Jaffreys has passed away. Saeed Jaffery has joined his brothers and sisters and is rejoicing in the lap of his Heavenly Father, eternally,” reports the BBC.

Born in Punjab, India in 1929 Jaffery kicked off his acting career in theatre and went on to star alongside such leganedary actors as Michael Caine, Sean Connery and Ben Kingsley, and was awarded an OBE for his contributions to drama.

The actor starred in such Indian movies as Satyajit Ray’s Shatranj ke Khiladi and appeared in over 100 Bollywood movies, as well as appearing in Gandhi, The Man Who Would Be King, and A Passage To India.

Jaffrey became a household name in the UK after appearing in such TV series as Tandoori Nights, The Jewel in The Crown, and The Far Pavilions, as well as playing Ravi Desai in hit soap Coronation Street.

Saeed Jaffrey was aged 86 when he passed away.
