Ryan Gosling to possibly play Neil Armstrong in biopic
If you are going to make a movie about an astronaut then why not make that movie about the first man to walk on the moon. Well, apparently that is happening at Universal with their latest project called First Man.
The movie will be based on the book ‘First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong penned by James Hansen, and the word is Universal is developing the biopic with director Damien Chazelle, and they want Ryan Gosling for the lead role, reports Joblo.
Gosling has previously worked with Chazelle on the upcoming La La Land, which stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, and should Gosling sign on the dotted line it will be his second collaboration with the director.
Of course First Man is still very much in the early stages, but the word is script for the Neil Armstrong biopic is being adapted by Spotlight scribe Josh Singer.
The synopsis for the book goes as follows…
“When Apollo 11 touched down on the moon’s surface in 1969, the first man on the moon became a legend, In First Man, Hansen explores the life of Neil Armstrong. Based on over fifty hours of interviews with the intensely private Armstrong, who also gave Hansen exclusive access to private documents and family sources, this “magnificent panorama of the second half of the American twentieth century” is an unparalleled biography of an American legend.”
The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission is approaching, so perhaps Universal is working hard toward getting First Man ready for that…we’ll have to wait and see.
