Titanic director James Cameron has made a documentary, which examines a tomb found near Jerusalem in 1980, and its producers say it belonged to Jesus and his family.
Speaking in New York, Cameron said statistical tests and DNA analysis backed this view, but archaeologists and theologians attack this view as unfounded saying the burial cave is probably that of a Jewish family with similar names to that of Jesus.
However, Cameron rebutted with the combination of names found on the tomb convince him of their heritage.
Construction workers in 1980 discovered the tomb with10 2000 year old limestone coffins. According to the Israel Antiquities Authority, 6 of these coffins were marked with the names Mary, Matthew, Jesua son of Joseph, Mary, Jofa (Jesus’s brother), and Judah son of Jesua.
Cameron unveiling his documentary The Last Tomb of Jesus said, the chances of finding that combination of names together was like finding a grave marked Ringo next to others marked John, Paul, and George.
Another grave reportedly to be of Mary Magdalene convinced researchers of the truth of their find.

There is a nice story in the gospel of Matthew (28:11-15) about rumours of Jesus body being stolen from the tomb. The gospel says: “this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day”. The gospel of Matthew has been written around 70 AD. Why should people have circulated the story, if nearby there was a tomb with the remains of Jesus, his wife and his son?
