Tom Tresh, the ex-New York Yankees star has died of a heart attack on Wednesday, aged 71. Tresh, was the 1962 AL Rookie of the Year, as well as being part of three NYY teams that reached the World Series. (read more…)

MLB Network and ESPN have announced that they are to show the entire 39 World Baseball Classic games, this will start from March 5 to 23 in 2009. ESPN will show 23 of the classic games from the tournament; this includes semifinal and final games, across ESPN and ESPN2. (read more…)

It looks as though the Cubs expect Carlos Zambrano to miss the only one start following an MRI. The test revealed that Zambrano has an inflammation and rotator cuff tendinitis in his right shoulder. He has had an anti-inflammatory injection, which should hopefully ease the pain. (read more…)

The Mets might start to hear the word collapse a lot in the future, after the team squander a 7-0 lead against the Phillies. The Mets lost 8-7 loss in 13 innings, this is nothing compared to the seven-game lead that they blew in the final 17 games last year.
Some fans are trying to bury their head in the sand but the similarities are there for all to see, it was made even worse as the Phillies, the new NL East leaders, are the opponents. (read more…)

Pitcher Paul Byrd has been acquired by the Boston Red Sox from the Cleveland Giants, many will see this as a sign that Clay Buchholz will be demoted to Triple-A. Byrd will become a free agent after the year; he is 7-10 with a 4.53 ERA on the season. (read more…)

We have heard that the New York Yankees are close to signing a deal with Richie Sexson, the Yankess are hoping that by signing Sexon he will be able to help them against left-handed pitchers. Richie Sexson who is a first baseman was released from the Seattle Mariners on July 10 and had a great record there; he was batting .344 with 5 home runs in 71 at-bats against left-handers this season. Former New York Yankees popular star Bobby Murcer has sadly died after losing his battle with brain cancer. The former All-Star also went on to have a very popular broadcasting career after playing for the team, Murcer was just 62.
