Although he may remain a symbol of masculinity for many, Britain’s most prominent spy might be able to identify himself as “nonbinary” in the future, according to 007’s producer.
Barbara Broccoli has poured cold water on suggestions the role could go to a woman… but in a new interview, she conceded a future Bond could be ‘non-binary’ – someone who considers themselves neither male or female, and usually prefers to be referred to as ‘they’ rather than ‘he’ or ‘she’.
Ms. Broccoli spoke to Girls On Film about Daniel Craig’s retirement after the film No Time To Die.

Anna Smith was Anna Smith’s guest and asked her whether she thinks 007 will always be male. She answered: “I do because we shouldn’t be making movies where men are playing women.”

Smith suggested “Nonbinary perhaps? Maybe one day?” Smith replied, “Non-binary maybe?”. To which Ms. Broccoli replied, “Who knows?” The answer is open. It’s just a matter of finding the right actor.
Ms Broccoli, who controls the 007 franchise through her Eon Production company, also said the next Bond might not be white, adding: ‘We want the actor to be British… and British, as we know, can be many things.’
There are many names that have been linked to the role, including Bridgerton’s Rege Jean Page, IdrisElba, Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean Page and Tom Hardy (Mad Max) actor Richard Madden.
