Ten-set Learjet private goes up in flames just outside San Diego. No survivors are expected.

  • This crash occurred near Pepper Drive and North 2nd Street. It is located just east of Interstate 8 in El Cajon, in an unincorporated region.

  • Video from a nearby resident showed smoke rising and flames. Livestreaming on Facebook showed the car set ablaze by a home and other debris. 
  • Although fire officials don’t have a count of the passengers onboard the plane, they believe that most are already dead. 
  • There were no reports of injuries or fatalities on the ground 










After a small plane collided in an unincorporated area of a town 17 miles west of San Diego, police believe that all aboard are dead.

Learjet 35A flew out of John Wayne Airport, Orange County, but crashed near Pepper Drive and North 2nd Street. These are located east of SR-67 north, Interstate 8 in El Cajon. 

About 2,500 people were also without power due to the crash that occurred on Monday at 7:15 PM local time. 

Video from a nearby resident showed smoke and flames. One Facebook livestream captured a car setting itself ablaze in front of an apartment and debris on the streets.  

Officials from fire departments don’t have any idea how many passengers were aboard the plane. But they believe that the victims are already dead. 

On the ground, there were no reports of injuries or deaths.

Several fire and police units worked to get the blaze under control by about 9 p.m. local time in El Cajon, California

Numerous firefighting units and police were involved in putting out the flames.

No one on the ground was injured or hurt. Rainy conditions and the darkness have kept investigators from finding the full extent of the damage

There was no one hurt or injured on the ground. The investigators were hampered by rain and darkness from determining the extent of the damage.

Butz stated that there was very little of the plane left. “We were unable to locate any survivors.” 

Authorities are still trying to determine the cause of this crash. 

San Diego Sheriff Bill Gore’s office posted on Twitter that the fire had been put out around 9 PM local time. 

Sheriff’s Office added, “Unknown injuries” and encouraged everyone who witnessed the collision to contact National Transportation and Safety Board. 

Don Butz, Fire Chief of the Department stated that while they did find a vehicle with damage due to the accident but they were unable to determine if additional damage had been done at any other properties or homes.  

However, the plane managed to take out many electrical poles in its crash. More than 2,500 El Cajon residents were still without electricity as of 8:15 p.m. 

According to local power officials, they should have power back on Tuesday morning.
